Mi A3 Android One Smartphone Review with Pros & Cons
If you want to know a jungle overview of this one, you can check out my unboxing in this video. Will directly jump between the pros and cons? What do I like about this phone and what are the things that are annoying me on this one? And if you look at the specs, this is having a relatively smaller screen, a 6.01 screen, but it’s an AMOLED screen. It has in display fingerprint scanner and other specs, as you can see, particularly the camera layout is good. It is having that triple camera layout and other specs are on the screen for your reference, so let’s quickly jump between the pros and cons here is a less I’ll go over all the pros and the cons in this video, and the first thing that I liked Is that these days many of the phones are coming with really big sized screens this one relatively, if you look at it, is having a pretty compact size screen, it’s a 6.01 screen and that’s the reason, as you can see, it fits easily within your head. Also in terms of styling, some of you might like it or not, but again this has this styling and if light falls on it, you get that reflection. It actually looks pretty cool. So in terms of looks, I would say it is looking actually pretty good. It looks actually a pretty premium, in my Frank opinion, also because of its size, it easily fits in your hand.
Pretty compact, like this, and also at the build quality, is actually good. Black is also Gorilla. Glass. The front is also Gorilla. Glass now moving to a fingerprint. It has this in display fingerprint scanner because it’s having an AMOLED screen, as you can see, and again I would say, it’s the fastest in display fingerprint scanner that we have seen in the industry but yeah. It takes about a second and works almost most of the time, and there is also that face unlocking option on this it’s provided, but I would say, do not use that because it’s not actually very, very secure so for unlocking. I would say, use this in display. Fingerprint scanner, though it’s not the fastest, now one more small thing that I am liking on this phone and the many of the phones are or might ring, is here on the top. The right now I don’t have any notification. We do have a physical LED notification light, but it is only in fight color and by default, for some strange reason, actually it’s not enabled – and you can actually go to the notifications tab over here. We have this apps and notifications. If you go over here this one here, you have this blink light option just enable that, and then you will have that physical LED notification like but it’s, just in white fella, now I’m moving to one more important thing. As I tested this one in Heather bod with the Geo and Airtel, are in terms of network reception.
This is not cellular call quality network reception. I would say this is actually a pretty good much better than most of the other phones that I have tested. In fact, it comes in the top tire I would say, like the flagship, Samsung phones, for example. I have always praised the Galaxy S 10 plus for its network reception. This one also falls in that, for example, right now also it’s an ad. Do you want cell and in this area it tell is having actually very low signal, but you know with that low signal. Yes, it’s still on low signal. I am able to take calls here without getting disconnected, so that means the network. Reception is actually good again of a G also, I did not have any problem and it has a obviously volte support now. Moving to another important thing is that how’s, the earpiece on the smart phone, because that is also a very important thing. In my Frank opinion and here I’m happy to say that, unlike some of the earlier, what he says – Xiaomi phones, for example, particularly if re caught with the redmi note, 7, providing never like the european – was not super clear. But on this one again, the earpiece is also very, very clear, like high end premium, Android phone. So in that aspect, while taking cellular calls, they were crystal clear and did not have any problem, and the other part is also never complained about calls getting muddy or anything like that.
So in that respect I would say, let me show me that actually a very good job. Moving to the speaker, we just have a single speaker over here, just this area speaker. So, while watching videos and stuff you have to cup it like this, but it’s actually adequately loud, her ringtone volumes are also on the higher side so again for notifications, etc. I even took some calls for a speakerphone. I did not have a problem. I also like the fact that now the 3.5 mm headphone jack is back. That was missing on the me a 2 now moving to what do you say? Another thing is that again this is a stock Android phone that’s, an Android one device. That means it has talked Android experience. As you can see, you have the app free and all those things you get the. So this is what experience you’ll get even on pixel devices and stuff. So this is the pure Android experience what Google intended. So that is what you are getting on this and the advantage of this one is that again, you will not have to worry about Android updates on this one. This will get the Android updates very quickly, so you don’t have to worry about that. So that is also actually a really nice thing, so in terms of Android updates, you don’t have to worry about this one and you also get the latest security updates. So in that aspect, it’s got T Android, not a lot of bloatware and anything that varies.
You also the moving to the performance. I will talk about the SOC reservations. What I have later, they are using the Snapdragon 665 SOC on this one and as it’s stopped Android without any bloatware or anything it handles everything, fine and also in terms of RAM management. The RAM management was fine, but guys this is the review on it, and this is the higher end variant that comes with 6 gigabytes of RAM and in this one again I never had any issues of what you say: RAM management on this one. So that way, also the ROM management has been done well on this device, so no lag that I’m noticing on this one in day to day usage, you won’t have an issue now some of you have asked me: does this phone exhibit any overheating issues or anything Like that – and I would send no yes, I don’t start the back after about 15 20 minutes of continuous use it, for example, you are watching YouTube videos replying to him, adding tweets and stuff like that. Yes, the back gets slightly evolved but again that’s the common thing that I have noticed with almost every Android smartphone, that is having a glass back so in day to day usage, I would say: heating is not an issue unless you’re just giving continuously for a long I’Ll talk about the gaming in the later part of the video now let’s talk about the battery on this one.
This has a four thousand thirty million power battery and I have to say the battery life is actually really good on this one. It can the standby well time is actually really good on this. That means the idle drain is very low on this one. Hence it can easily last for about one and a half and if you’re sort of a casual user even about two days as you can see from the charts, it could last for almost o two days and then also had a little bit battery left and about Five hours of SOT so for a typical days usage, I would say it will last easily for about anywhere between 6 to 7 hours of sot and again in terms of battery life. I would say again as its stock android and also the snapdragon 665 is very efficient, so no issues regarding the battery life easily a full working day for most users now moving to gaming. Yes, you can do gaming with this one and i didn’t play a lot of games. I just tried pop G and it ran fine, but, as you can see from the screenshot, the puck G was by default being set to the low graphics setting. So that is something you have to note, and I played pop G on this low graphics setting and it played fine but again just sort of a heavy gamer, and you want those higher graphics settings with pop G and stuff.
This smartphone might not be the one for you now. Moving to one thing that really impressed me on this smartphone is this camera setup man? As you can see, we are having that triple camera setup. The main camera is actually a forty eight megapixel Sony, IMX 586 sensor, that’s, actually a really nice one. Then we also have a wide angle lens. And, lastly, we have a two megapixel for depth and obviously we have the. What do you say flash over here and the front facing camera is actually a 32 megapixel, and here are some of the sample shot staff taken with this one and, as you can see in outdoor lighting conditions, it does a very good job, but even for skin Tones and stuff, as you can see, in red, a very good job, and even when you enable that portrait mode, it comes out really good. And I also like the fact that, even in the wide angle lens, as you can see, used some of the samples here, it actually does a very good job now, I’m, moving to indoor lighting conditions, artificial lighting conditions. Here also, I feel it is actually doing a very good job, yes, in very low lighting conditions. Yes, the image gets slightly soft, but again considering the competition and the pricing around this one market, I would say I had test a lot of phones. This one is still doing a far better job, and now moving to the front facing camera is a 32 megapixel.
I am, as you can see, the front facing camera performance is also very good. The only thing I would say is that it’s a slightly over shop, but again I disabled, all the beauty modes while taking the shots and even endowed samples, as you can see, I have the images are really really sharp. So again, the front facing camera performance is also very good, it’s, a very sharp one. So in terms of camera, I would say: Xiaomi has really done a very good job with this one. So guys these were the pros of this device. Now let’s move to the cons and the biggest con personally for me for this device is the AMOLED screen panel that they have used don’t, get me wrong. I’M, not complaining about the 720p I’m. Ok with that, but my big problem is that this panel tries to over saturate everything. That means every color actually looks much darker than what it is hence, and when I was initially taking the photographs and just looking at the screen, I thought the photographs were not that good. But when I moved the photographs to my color calibrated monitor, then I the pictures were not much better, so this screen has a tendency to over saturate everything and suddenly in the image settings we simply do not have any options as of now to tweak that setting. So again, I simply do not like the color calibration on this one again I’m, a little bit picky, because I work with video.
So I know what color is what but it’s simply not accurate on this one and yes, I would say they went with this. What do you say, AMOLED screen on this one, but, frankly speaking, I would have rather having a good quality IPS 1080p screen than AMOLED screen, which is actually not super correct in terms of color. But again it might vary so again. If you are planning to get this device, I would suggest go to local means, store and look at the screen and what some of the pictures and videos are you, okay, with the colors or not? Ah and second thing that I do not like on this one, it has all the basic sensors that you would meet and also has the auto brightness sensor, but I feel the auto brightness sensor calibration is simply not that well done on this one many times I Have to constantly fiddle around with the brightness, and now, if we talk about the brightness of the panel also here also, I feel it’s not a very bright power in outdoor conditions. When this, where I have bright sunlight, I feel even at the maximum brightness. The screen is not that bright it’s not like it’s, not visible. I have to just move the phone left and right and it’s visible, but I felt that they did compromise on the maximum brightness also. So, to sum it up, the biggest con for me is the display. What Xiaomi has used on this one and now moving to another thing is that this device does support fast charging, lady in what fast charging, but the charge of that is supplied in the box.
Is actually just a 10 watt charger, so you have to spend a little bit more to get that 18. What fast charger they should have bundled it in the box and, lastly, is regarding the processor don’t get me wrong. The star dragon 665 will handle everyday to us. Fine, as we have seen no lag in the UI or anything, but it puzzles me that why didn’t to show me go with something like a Snapdragon, 710 or a7 12. That would have been great for people who would like to do heavy gaming, because in games like pop G etc, it is said to know graphics settings. So if you are sort of having a mod that I would not recommend any with this phone. So, to sum it up, I would say if I have to summarize this one and if you look at the base configuration that’s around 13000 rupees, the big transform me personally for this device it’s the camera. I feel at 13000 rupees. This one has the best camera setup and actual pictures that we get are actually really really good for 13000 rupees, both the rear facing, as well as the front facing camera, and I also like the fact that you have that wide angle lens, but it’s actually pretty Useful and the second thing that I really like is the stock Android experience it’s a Android one device, so you have that stock Android on this no chunk or anything.
So again, you don’t have to worry about Android updates or anything they will come. So if you’re a purist, you’ll really love it, but again no remember that in stock Android you don’t get the features, some of the features like called, recording, etc. But again, if you want stock Android, I would say: you’ll really like it, but for me personally, the biggest cons so for this device were the screen quality the panel that they have used simply not color accurate, that color corrector tries to over saturate the color. You will eventually get used it, but I test a lot of phones, so I immediately have noticed that, and that is the thing that bugs me, and lastly, is they should have gone with the Snapdragon 710 or SL 712 SOC. That would have been better for gamers but anyways. If you can look past the cons and you’re looking for a stock, Android smartphone with actually pretty good cameras and you’re on a tight budget, you can certainly have a look at this with me in a three but anyways guys. This was my review of the me.
