This is the phone that i’ve been using on and off in the past almost two months now we got it early and i’m amazed by the cameras on this phone and by a lot more. But, to be honest, i have to return it and it will go to the shelf and be replaced with a different phone, and i want to tell you why, because i honestly love this phone, but i still cannot continue using it for one big reason. By the way shout out to our sponsor encased, which makes some of the best cases for the s21 ultra, but let me tell you about that towards the end of the video first, let me tell you about everything i love about the galaxy s21 ultra and the First thing again: that’s the camera it’s been solid all throughout, and the zoom has been just amazing. This right now is my go to favorite camera phone of all time. So if i had to go on a travel, i would definitely take this phone with me for the camera and here’s a disclaimer to this watch. Our full camera comparison between the s21 ultra the iphone and the pixel, the three best phones in terms of cameras. Right now and you’ll know that the galaxy actually excels in terms of zooming but it’s, not quite as good as the other two when it comes to night photos and even colors during daylight, it’s, just a slightly bit behind it’s.
Just that that zoom camera is so much better. It gives you so many more possibilities to shoot that i have to go with this phone if i want the best camera. So what else is there about this phone it’s huge it’s got a 5 000 milliamp hour battery. So what about the battery life? It should be great right. Well, after using it for quite a while, i can say that battery life it’s just okay, not quite as amazing as i hoped for it, lasts me through the day – and i usually finish the day with around 30 on the battery meter, but not much more, and That means that this is not truly a two day battery phone, and i honestly hope for that. Considering this phone is so large, and one thing that i’m actually quite annoyed with is the charging situation, because charging is on the slow side, especially if you’ve used other phones. Now here you have a 25 watt, fast charger that you have to buy separately and by the way that’s another sore point: you buy a phone that costs 1. 200. You have to buy a separate charger. It feels like a rip off, but okay anyway, we’ve dealt with that. So what about the actual charging? Now? I’Ve used oneplus phones in the past, and i love that you can still use your phone while charging with oneplus phones and you still get that super fast. Charging speed and the phone tops up in less than an hour now the galaxy s21 ultra technically the charging speed it charges fully from zero to 100 in just about an hour and five minutes, which is definitely good enough for most people me included, but the reality Is that if you start using your phone while it’s charging, those charging speeds drop significantly, and it almost seems like the phone stops charging all together.
So, even though uninterrupted it takes about an hour, if you use your phone while charging, it may take more than two hours to recharge, which is quite a lot except. The other thing that everybody talks about is the micro sd card slot. The s21 series dropped the micro sd card and previous samsung phones always used to have it so that’s a bit. Annoying now me personally, in my experience, i’m, absolutely not bothered by this, because i upload my files to the cloud. I have my photos to google photos and i use google drive a lot and i’m honestly fine with the storage that you get here. Some people may miss it. I personally don’t. What i am missing, however, is that headphone jack it’s been missing on flagship phones for a couple of years now, and i still can’t get over this because i’m still using wired headphones that i don’t have to worry about charging on my desktop at work. It would be so convenient to be able to go on a call on my phone, just plugging in those wired headphones and going, and i missed this feature a lot, and i wish that samsung or other phone makers would return it. Because, honestly, the excuse that that tiny bit of a space that a headphone jack occupies will make for a crazy, better battery life. Honestly, this hasn’t panned out so let’s just return. The headphone jack. Shall we okay and one thing that i do appreciate about the s2100? Yes, it’s an expensive phone, but it’s not crazy, expensive, like the s20 ultra from last year, which started at 1 400.
The starting price on this phone is 1200 and with recent use you can easily get it for around 1 000, which is quite a reasonable price. So that’s one thing that it’s got going for it. Okay, let me talk about the negatives, because there are a few annoyances in one big deal: breaker first, the annoyances, a small thing, but come on samsung. Why only two colors! You have the black and silver one. We have the black one here and yes, you have the brownish colors on samsung’s official website, but you know what that gorgeous violet color from the s21 and s21 plus would have looked phenomenal on the ultra. Why is it not here? I just don’t get samsung’s approach to colors it’s, just so bland, so uninspiring and yes, the the black and the silver options look good. I like them, but if you want something a bit more colorful something a bit more playful. Oh, you don’t have that option, and even the iphone and apple is often accused of blocking people down in the world garden. It gives you four color options here. You only have two official color options available everywhere: okay, another minor thing but again worth noticing is that if you use face unlock and not the fingerprint scanner, yes, you do have face unlock here, based on the picture, so it’s not a 3d scan of your face. It’S not that secure, but you have the option and it’s neat and it’s much more useful.
Sometimes, when you don’t wear a mask to use it, but the thing is that it’s also way slower than even much more affordable phones like oneplus, where face unlock, is lightning fast and that’s just annoying, especially on a flagship phone. Okay, one more thing that i have to share on my list of grievances is gesture navigation which still doesn’t feel as smooth as on google, pixel phones or even oneplus phones and after using it for a while, i was so annoyed. I had to switch back to using the regular on screen buttons and yeah. There is a bit of a micro lag, it’s, it’s, a samsung thing honestly, most other android phones, don’t. Have this and i just can’t help but notice it. The phone is just not quite as smooth as other phones with 120hz display and come on no charger in the box with a super expensive phone that’s, a ripoff okay, but enough with those minor grievances. And of course, this phone has overwhelmingly a positive reception. And i love it overall, but i have one major deal breaker. That, basically, is the thing that forced me to leave this phone and switch to a different phone, and that is the size and the weight it’s it’s, just too much a phone shouldn’t get in the way of you tying your shoes or walking down the street, and This phone does, and yes that doesn’t matter, if you carry your phone in your bag, but most of the time i personally have it in my pocket and it’s just a terrible experience.
I would rather have a phone. I can carry comfortably all day instead of a super phone that does everything but doesn’t even fit properly in a pocket. And yes, i get it these days. Phones are big, but look at even the galaxy s21 plus another big phone, but much more reasonable in size and it’s lightweight. While this thing the s21 ultra it’s just too much for me, so yes, that’s why? I have to switch to a smaller phone, something that i can comfortably carry around without feeling like. I have a brick in my pocket and that’s, probably gon na be the regular s21. The smaller version that does have that super nice looking violet version phantom violet and later on stay tuned for the oneplus 9. Pro series which are coming out definitely be switching to that phone and testing it by the way. Speaking of rumors and leaks, the s22 series rumors are already starting to heat up and we’re hearing about the crazy 200 megapixel camera on the back of the s22 ultra, as well as a front camera that is completely invisible. So that looks super exciting and, of course, that phone is way off it’s coming early in 2022, but that’s, something to look forward to so right now, i’m waiting for the oneplus 9 pro hope, it’s, not too big, want to see the camera on it and, of Course it will have much better charging than the s21 ultra and speaking of how expensive the s21 ultra is.
I would definitely keep it protected and our sponsoring case makes some great cases that you can now get at a huge discount. Encased has different designs. One is the elegant, thin armor case that protects the phone from all sides and has a cool non slip finish something useful for the actually quite slippery s21 ultra or you can step up the protection with the more resilient rebel case, with a unique pattern that absorbs Impact yet still isn’t too big or finally, you can get maximum protection with the super tough falcon case that not only protects, but it is also built to exceed strict military standards and will give you peace of mind. Your device can survive all sorts of rough treatment. One thing i love about encased is that the prices for these cases are reasonable and installation is also a piece of cake with a drop in design, so you can get different cases and quickly swap up depending on your need, bonus tip. These cases also retain the original clicky tactile feel of the buttons on the phone and allow for wireless charging, so make sure to check the description box to this video to get a special discount code for in case cases for your s21 ultra. So these have been my impressions with the s21 ultra after using it for about two months. I love the zoom camera. I am happy with the overall experience battery life is solid, not super great, but solid and yeah.
Overall, i like this phone, but the giant size is a big turn off. So do, let me know, am i the only one feeling this way about these super phones that keep on coming up, but are still just way too big. The iphone 12 pro max way too big, the galaxy s21 ultra big and heavy, and many many other phones like that. Let me know your thoughts about these trends in the comments to this video and thanks for watching. I hope you enjoyed this video thumbs up.
