Finally, after two weeks in the snail mail, my wise video doorbell pre order, finally came in so today we are going to check and test this out. Do a quick, unboxing set it up and check the settings in the app and see if this teeny weeny doorbell from wise will be a good fit for your front door. Let’S check out the features it records in 1080p, full hd, which i’m going to correct wise here. This is a three by four aspect: ratio and on testing. It has 1296 by 17 28 pixel resolution and not 1080. So weiss needs to correct that also. They are correct in saying three by four, because the video is longer vertically than its width. It even confused my windows, 10. When i checked the properties, the width should be 1296 and height 1728.. It has a field view of 120 degrees vertically and 88 degrees horizontally, and they also noted that they will bump up the resolution eventually to 1536 by 2046.. It records in 20 frames per second in daytime and 15 fps at night and has an 8 times digital zoom. It has free cloud storage for motion activated events, but take note that it is only limited to 12 seconds and with a 5 minute cooldown. Also, this doorbell doesn’t have a micro sd card slot, like their other cameras. So all the footage is uploaded to the cloud and you do need to subscribe to their camp plus subscription, which starts at 1.
99 per camera per month or save by paying annually for 15 dollars per camera, which is a dollar 25 per camera per month. With a campus subscription, you will get recording of the whole motion event: no cooldown wises ai, like person, vehicle and package detection. This doorbell will also have a chime included, instant notifications and, yes, you will get a notification when somebody presses the doorbell. It has 2 way. Audio which you will test later on, it has smart alerts and the doorbell glows bright when it senses motion, and it has the usual motion alerts and will notify you. Even though the person doesn’t ring the doorbell and on this didn’t say instant notification, and it is ip65 weather resistant time to open up the box, we have the chime and there is a setup button. On top. We have a quick start guide, because this is a pre order. I have my eye back twice doorbell sticker and we have the doorbell itself, which is smaller than i thought. So we have the camera lens light sensor on top and we have the doorbell push area which there is no physical button, but there’s a tactile click when you push on it. Build quality is okay for the price i’m, not really fond of not having a defined doorbell button on the back. We have the reset push button and we have the terminal screws to screw in your doorbell wires on the bottom is the speaker.
What else is inside the box? We have a 30 degree angled wedge and we have the mounting plate. We have the plastic anchors extension and fuse wire and wire nuts and mounting screws. Now this is a pretty small video doorbell and just for comparison with my other doorbells, the wise doorbell is pretty small. It is also smaller than my recently reviewed ring video doorbell ward, which i’ll be comparing this wise doorbell to in my future, videos now time to set this up by the way. A few of you gave me a heads up about the micro usb port at the back of the wise doorbell, so just to show you and i’ll use this to set this video doorbell up with a small flathead driver just peel off the rubber cover at the Back and will expose the micro usb port now i’ll use my wise power, adapter and usb cable to power. This up download sign up and log into the weis, app click, the plus sign on the upper left, corner click, add device, click, cameras and select wise doorbell and just to show you the traditional way to set this up is to install the doorbell first. This is wired, so your doorbell transformer needs to be 16 to 24 volts ac turn off the power to your doorbell, open your chime box and with a two wire connection. You have to connect them together, using the fuse wire and wire nuts included in the package check if the doorbell is flashing, yellow and click next and click ready to connect.
If you hear it prompt you type in your wifi’s password, which will generate a qr code, that you need to show the doorbell click next and if you have set up alex a before with a wise app, the doorbell will be automatically set up with alex a Name your device, which i’ll name mine, wise doorbell, and you will get a two week. Free trial of the camp subscription now let’s plug in the chime and press and hold the setup button until the blue light flashes three times wait until it is connected and click finish, update the firmware. If needed and click done and with the live view, there is barely any lag time to do. The installation decide if you need the angle wedge, which i don’t need, in my case, screw in the mounting plate and make sure the doorbell wires goes through the open area on the plate, screw in your doorbell wires to the thermal screws on the doorbell. It doesn’t matter which screw push in the doorbell in the mouth and pull down to lock it in place. Now let’s check the settings in the app in the main app page. You will see your doorbell click on it to get to the live view. You can click on the expand icon to get the full view speaker to turn it on or off mic on or off three dots to get to the other settings where we have the camera to take a snapshot which will be saved to your phone’s.
Album record button to record their live view: moon, icon for night vision, auto on or off picture icon. To get to the album. You can change the video quality from hd, sd or 480p back to the live view on the bottom. You will see the timeline where you can scrub left or right, and it will show the camera’s recordings of motion events and also door build pushes these recordings are in the cloud and you can click the download button to download the footage. Click on the upper gear icon to get to the doorbell settings, event, recording schedule and toggle on or off notification, and i have the cam plus trial, so i’ll get notified with the ai person, vehicle and package detection and detection settings. You can adjust the motion sensitivity from low to high take note. There are no motion zones on this doorbell at this time. Anyways advanced settings where you can change the night vision mode again from off auto or on the white led, which helps with clear recording at night on or off also toggle on and off the weiss logo, timestamp and sound extended devices. This is where you can add or adjust the settings to the wise chime. You can change the tunes and adjust the volume, and there are 19 sounds that you can choose from which i’ll demo, some of it later on now time to do some testing. But before that, if you like this, video and my other videos, don’t forget to give it a thumbs up and subscribe to my channel, if you haven’t done it yet and click the bell notification so as to get notified.
When i upload product reviews like this video product, updates comparison, videos and long term reviews, thank you and let’s get on with the testing. So this is the video and audio quality of this white visual doorbell, and this is what it looks like when i’m close to the ball down – and this is what it looks like when i’m close to the door. So this is the video quality of the white video model at night, at no light, except for the little lights that the light builder has, and this is what it looks like you see it, but the top microphone doorbell at night, uh no light, and i also Turned off the white light from the doorbell itself and the infrared leds are turned on, so it could be in black and white nice vision mode. So this is what it looks like when i’m close to the camera – and it looks like when i’m slow to the door, and this is what it looks like when i’m close to the camera – and this is what looks like when i’m close to the door. So we are going to test the motion, alert notification, speed of the wise video doorbell and i’m on my lte connection and also it’s 118.. Now i have the campless subscription. It comes with a two week: trial of the campless subscription, which has person, detection and also complete motion capture, so let’s check it out. Yep. There is a delay in notification.
There you go, i got the notification and when you press and hold you will get a snapshot preview which is on the side, so wise needs to fix that. But when you click on it it should go to live view and, as you can see, also there is no cool off period, barely has school of period. I got another notification here so now we are going to test the motion, alert notification, speed of the weiss video doorbell and now i turned off the camp last subscription. So i just have the basic 12 second recording and, as you can see, there is no person detection on the notification. Just motion events, so let’s see how fast the alert notification would be there you go yeah. It is faster without the campus subscription and the snapshot preview is vertical now, huh, okay, so we are going to test the uh doorbell push to notification, speed of the weiss video doorbell Music. There you go. I get a notification and there’s no chime and click on that i’ll get to live view and push on that you’ll be able to start to wait off. Okay, so i’m, going to test the package detection with a complex subscription with the wise video doorbell, so i’m gon na turn it on you’re gon na have a two week: trial uh when you purchase one and right here, i’m gon na turn this package detection to On and let’s uh give this package to lifehackster and see if we can get the notification.
The notification in motion alerts. Motion alert notification is a bit delayed, so let’s see about the package, detection and i’m going to place it right here so that the doorbell will see it see i’m still waiting for the uh motion notification here, Music. Now look at that. I got the person and package detected on wise, doorbell cool press and hold here and still it’s just sideways, so you have to flip your phone to see right there cool that worked so let’s do the porch pirate test for the weiss video doorbell got my package Right there that’s my real link. It has a three second free recording just because it is a wired, doorbell, so i’m, pretty sure you’ll get me in the recording, but the notification is delayed so i’m still not getting the there. You go. You heard that that’s the only time the notification was sent to my phone anyways Music. Someone is at the wise doorbell. I can’t even see her right. Someone is at the wise doorbell uh. Yes, can i help you uh? Yes, can i help you it’s, like pastor here glad i’m. Still here, uh, sorry he’s, not here, right now, uh, you want to leave a message. Uh, sorry he’s, not here right now, you want to leave a message. No! Thank you. No thank you all right. Thank you now, with the two way talk started with the doorbell press. There are several issues i noticed. First, there are instances that the doorbell won’t connect.
Second because of the doorbell design. My wife hasn’t seen the doorbell before the test and when she saw it because there’s no definite button on the doorbell, she instead pushed the black area on top smudging the camera lens and third, it is not reliable in recording the adorable event and conversation several times That i tried there is no footage of the conversation, but i tried it again later in the day and it did record but only recorded the doorbell side of the conversation yeah. Can you hear me all right, Music, Music, oh as to alex a and google integration at this time, not able to stream the live view on both platforms? They can be seen and be able to be added, but my google hub will just show a picture of the y scam outdoor as to alex a it will say that the live view is not supported, but you can use your echo devices as a chime, which You heard earlier in the two way talk test. Well, here are other issues that i encountered while testing this video doorbell from wise. Please note especially to whoever is watching this a month or more from when i made this video. Most of the issues i encountered can be and will be fixed by wise. I have the latest firmware at time of this testing. So if you watch this video a month or a year from now, then these issues are hopefully fixed and improved.
So here they are. The snapshot capturing the notification, if you have the cam plus, is sideways. It is right side up if you’re not on campus subscription. Also with a campus subscription. There is delay in motion notification and without the subscription the notification is significantly faster. This is mostly because wises ai is server based and it has a delay to process it. Ios users doorbell push notification, is only a generic tritone and at this time there’s no way of changing it. So you will definitely miss doorbell pushes if you only have this generic alert, no motion zones. I’M. Pretty sure weiss is going to add this in the near future. Also downloading the footage from the events. Tab is not in full resolution. Luckily, if you download it on the timeline, it is in full resolution, so this will also be going to be fixed by wise, because this is more of a software bug than anything and i’m, not sure if weiss can fix this, but the field of view. In my setup is pretty narrow, they say it has a 120 degrees vertical and 80 degrees horizontal and you can see head to toe. But, as you can see, if i’m close to the doorbell i’m, pretty short, i’m 5’9. But my head is still cut off and you cannot see my face and the width is my main issue check out my other video doorbell reviews, because i set this up in the same place with the wise doorbell.
You cannot see my front door and you will not be able to see the vertical post that i needed to see because 99 of the time. This is where delivery guys place my packages to hide it from view from the sidewalk which, even compared to a 19×6, ring doorbell footage. I could see the post and also my front door. This doorbell needs a wider field of view, not the aspect ratio but the field of view, and with that i will not be able to use this video doorbell in my front door. The view is just limited and that’s it i’ll give y several weeks and see if they update some of the issues, and i will do a comparison. Video with this doorbell and the new ring video doorbell wired.
