This thing is absolutely gorgeous. Is the 2021 lexus lc 500 convertible? Now i did review the coupe version of this car there’s a link up above, if you want to check out that video but it’s time for me to see if they ruined it by chopping, the top off first up. The name of this color is infrared it’s, not a new color it’s been around for a while, but some of you might not have known. This is a factory candy paint, so that means there’s a base coat, and then you have a red translucent coat on top of that and then a clear coat, which gives it a really deep, vibrant look to the finish. I just noticed this for the first time on the lc500, the material right in front of the triple beam led headlights has these little l’s engraved in it that have the same shape as the led day. Timer swoosh down below the forged 21 inch wheels that come. The lc500 are absolutely enormous, looking in person and anyone that’s ever owned. One of these can probably appreciate the fact that it’s a nightmare to keep them clean behind the spokes. It just seems like they’re always dirty because it has massive 15.7 inch, two piece: rotors, the rear has 14.1 inch, two piece rotors, and then you got a six pot, monoblock caliper in the front and a four pot caliper in the rear. Those huge brakes as it should because this car weighs over 4 500 pounds it’s like a mid sized truck.
Does it ruin the look with a convertible top compared to the coupe version, or does it look better than the coupe version with the convertible top down? You guys decide in the comment section below, despite being a soft top, though it does have a glass rear window with defrosters, so i guess that’s, a plus and if you’ve never seen an lc, 500 coupe or convertible before they have these amazing holographic looking tail lenses. So pretty also the trunk popper and inside that trunk is a first i’ve. Never never have. I ever seen a car that came with a vr headset i’ve, never even done vr before so. This is gon na happen, also yeah there’s, a trunk it’s kind of small. Oh man, the batteries are dead, i’m, normally a fan of sticking with black interior on cars because i feel it’s kind of timeless, but this one is finished in what’s called toasted caramel. It looks delicious inside here it actually doesn’t. I don’t want to eat the seeds. I’M, just really hungry and toasted caramel sounds super yummy, bolstering wise, excellent, excellent, bolstering comfortable seats too. They do have heat ventilation as well as these little vents right here to blow some air on your neck, and the steering wheel is heated as well, which i have it turned on right now, because my hands are cold and it feels great what the hell. What kind of a human would actually fit in this? This one is not specked out all the way, although it does have quite a few options which brings the price up to a hundred and thirteen thousand dollars, and it it feels the part i mean this car looks like a hundred plus thousand dollar car.
When you see it, i can’t even fold the seat back it won’t, even click into place. The vents above the glove box have a weird position to them: it’s kind of like an abyss that if you drop something into it’ll disappear. So i guess, if you were on a long road trip, you could dump a bag of m ms inside there and then turn on the heat and just sit there in the passenger seat. With your mouth open and they’ll just shoot, you got ta, try to catch them all where it’ll just make a melted mess inside your dash yeah. This is totally comfortable. The controls for the convertible top in this car are difficult to find they’re actually hidden underneath the pad. You rest, the palm your hand on when you use the touch pad for the infotainment system. Well, that flips up and then inside there you have the controls for the roof which i’ll put down. It just sounds weird it’s scary it’s, hard to see but there’s, actually a tiny little glass window behind the back seats right there, the back seat’s great when you have the top down, although my nose is level at the top of the windshield, so that means i’d Get peppered in the face with rocks and people spitting out the window of their car or flicking boogers or cigarettes. I could get a cigarette in the eye if you’re one of those people that throws your cigarette out the window you’re a jerk.
Oh my god. This is so scary. I don’t like this. Let me out of this there’s no features back here. This backseat is stupid. All right, let’s fire, this thing up go over some real tech features, love the way this car sounds. This is one of my favorite sounding naturally aspirated v8s on the market right now, anyway, as far as the tech features and gauges and stuff go in here, i’ll make this quick. You have an eight inch display for your gauges and it is robotic there’s a little dial that moves over, but more importantly, the infotainment system. It’S, a 10.3 inch display and use a little touch pad in the center to control it, which i have a fan of, and i i think this will age, okay and it’s hard to do that of tech features and cars, usually after 10 years. Tech features just seem silly, it does do android stuff as well as allow you to play with fruit and chat with alexa as well as listen to sounds of the amazon. That was. This would be a joke. It wasn’t very funny, get it. You could listen to music on amazon. That’S sounds of the amazon it’s like never mind. It does still have a slot underneath the digital climate control that you can shove clear discs into that have music written on them and, lastly, the drive modes. It does have the bull horns up here on the soft padded gauge cluster lid it’s, like touching the bull’s head, and you have your sport, sport plus normal custom, comfort in eco and then on the side.
You have track control off and snow. Why would you drive this in the snow in the name of science? It is now time to give this thing. The beams i’m going to put it into sports plus disable traction control. I’Ll. Give this thing a little bit of assistance on the launch and i’ll. Let it eat ready, go okay, go cargo, that’s, good it’s, quick, it’s, quick it’s, not as fast as the hard top version, but it’s quick, oh that’s, a light hood hello and welcome to garage science with sarah under the hood of this lc 500 is toyota’s. 2Ur gse, it is a 5 liter, naturally aspirated quad cam v8 that produces 471 horsepower at 7 100 rpm ‘8 pound feet of torque at 4, 800 rpm. It does have yamaha tuned cylinder, heads, titanium, intake valves as well as toyota’s d4s, direct and port injection. So you get the benefits of direct injection without the deposits on the back of your valves, because the port injection washes them off for you it’s time for the breaking test, no one behind me with a floating penguin ready! Oh oh, my god, ouch! Oh! These brakes are really good. Hello, i’m back the drivetrain in this lc500 is a awr, 10l65 ios and 10 speed automatic transmission, but i would rather take a mechanic’s word for it than stick. My head up. A transmission’s ass i’ll get that right one day what i meant by that was let’s.
Look under the car at the drivetrain on the lift i’m gon na start judging cars based on how many lavender nets they have. This one has four right by the rear diff that has some fins on the back of it to aid in heat dissipation. You wouldn’t think this car weighed as much as it does just by looking, underneath it that’s a massive knuckle in the back it’s all aluminium there’s, no point in putting an aftermarket exhaust in this car. It already sounds amazing, as it is, and look at that. That is so pretty how those are made right here, these two resonators there there is the bottom of the transmission, see it’s, got a giant plastic fin pan down here and you shouldn’t be off roading with your lc500. So don’t worry about that. Being plastic, that’s crazy. How they did the undercarriage of this car? You can see the exhaust system and the heat shields up above it, but you can’t see the drive shaft because it’s up above those heat shields, then you got a little door right here to access your drain, plug on the oil pan. Oh wow, the wheel has stamping on the back 21 by eight and a half et 25 that’s, interesting, it’s good to know they say the only way to enjoy this car is to drive it with the top off it’s. Currently, in the 50s and there’s 40 miles per hour, gusts out there, so i’m gon na put the top down.
This should be interesting. Oh yeah that’s what it’s all about right there all right! I absolutely agree it is incredible at the top off. However, i i don’t really care for convertibles, because i live in arizona and you can like never really enjoy them with the top down so i’m gon na pull over and put top back up. I would have kept doing this with the top down, but i don’t know if i have good enough audio and i don’t really feel like getting all the way back to my house and being like. Oh joy, i have another hour long drive to go redo. All this, so as far as driving this car goes, i mean you can tell a little bit straight line performance it’s, not as quick as the coupe version, but for the most part it still feels pretty much the same. I don’t feel like it ruined the handling by making this a convertible, then again, i’m, not exactly tracking it i’m, just driving down a back road. This does have adaptive suspension, but i really don’t notice that big of a difference you don’t even really need the top down to enjoy the sounds. Oh yeah, you hear a echo Music. They absolutely nailed it in the sound department with this car it’s kind of like what this thing is, for i mean it’s, not super fast it’s, just kind of a car that looks good sounds good and you cruise around in.
I still think the coupe looks better than the convertible. I don’t think they ruined this car by taking the top off. I think it would be enjoyable if you like convertibles i’m, not really a big fan of convertibles, but i will say it does sound. Absolutely amazing. With the top down – and i wish the weather was cooperating, so i could enjoy it a bit more fuel economy, wise in case you care about those things with a car like this it’s, as you should expect, with a car that has a 5 liter. Naturally, aspirated v8 – that makes almost 500 horsepower, weighs 4 500 pounds. So if you guys never seen one of my reviews before i have multiple categories to rate and assess them, starting with the bean score, is a rating of one to five beans. Basically, you get your gut when you give it the beans and the lc 500. Convertible is getting a rating of two beans it’s a little bit slower than the coupe version. I’M gon na weighs a little bit more and that’s to be expected, but it’s still a fun car to drive, and it sounds absolutely choice. Next is a cookie score, is a rating of one to five cookies, based on what you get for what you spend – and this was a tough one for me to assess, but this lc500 convertible is getting a rating of 2.8 cookies it’s getting above average score, but Not too much above average because it’s, expensive and the performance just for how much it costs what i do like about.
It, though, is it’s gon na be a rare car, it’s exclusive, it looks gorgeous. I think it looks better with the coupe version than it does. The convertible, until you put the top down, then it looks good with the top off, but with the top up on this. Lastly, though, as the penguin score has a rating of one to five penguins, based on how much i personally like a car and that right, there is getting a rating of three penguins. I like weird unique cars and it’s just it’s a pretty car with the top down top up. You might as well get the coop version. Coop version is the way to go.
