So in this video i’m going to be doing a review of the dji om4 gimbal let’s get into it Music. Now i think i’ve done this review a bit late because august 26 in 2020, so i’m a couple of months late but as you know for my previous videos, which you can check up either here or here um, i have done some gimbals tonight. I have done some gimbal videos with this, so i’ve repackaged everything so you can see. So here is the box that’s. What it looks like we’ve got phone. You put your phone there, your gimbal and everything it’s. Actually a really nice box um. I think it comes in at 120 pounds um, but if you get a dji combo which comes with the stand, the tripod also it comes with a bag, so that’s really handy so without further ado get into it. So once you open it up, it says create magnetic moments so i’m, assuming that’s, because this version of um gimbal has has a magnetic um. Would you call it like holder? As you can see, there has a lovely dji pattern on the back there and then has a clamp inside and also it does come with this thin rubber piece here, which it says, riser pad for small phones, we’re gon na put that one to the side for A minute now, i know, you’ve been waiting for it. This is the gimbal, so it comes up nicely tucked in there.
So what you have to do, if you want to see that that’s, where the magnetic clamps onto has usb usb c charging port there and it has all the controls there recording photo turning on off and then moving it. So it does open if you just like pull this up, it will open for you and then what you can do. You can and then preferably take the case off, but i won’t do it for a minute. You can then put your phone into this clamp here and i don’t know if you can see that, but it has a dot there, um so that’s, where you’re meant to line it up with your camera on your phone it’s really easy to clamp on. I would advise to take your case off first though, as you can see, it is clamped on right there now, so what you can do and for this purpose is only i’m going to put it on this tripod. Here it comes with a nice tripod screws onto the bottom and, and you can open it up – it’s got little grippy bits here so make sure it doesn’t fall over, so it’s really actually really handy so we’re going to screw that in and it just screws really Easily – and you take it in and just twist it at the bottom, as you can see, then you can open all the stands up. I’M going to stand it here. Don’T you see that you can see the top half.
So that is good. So now, on the back here, i’m gon na connect the magnet at the top, where it has that dot. There i’m gon na connect it onto the bit i’ve got um magnet on the gimbal. That has a space open at the top here and it also has a dot a white dot next to it and a dot on here. So what you can do, then pops on there and make sure that it’s line the dots are lined up and then and then what you can do. You can press here the end button here and press and hold that for a couple of seconds and the light should appear here, and it will turn on automatically also this little trigger here at the back. If you double click that that’s going to reset that’s going to reset um the position of the phone on the gimbal and if you double tap the end button, if you double tap the m button here, um double tap that and it will go from portrait to Landscape, so that is really handy also, there is an app that you can download for this it’s called the dji memo app, but you can download that um for some reason: i’m having troubles with it, and i haven’t got it at the moment i’m having troubles with It because um, when, for some reason, when you go into the app it has this little um camera camera symbol in the top right corner i’m gon na install it now again.
Hopefully it works but um it should work on android and ios. No matter what phone you have so it’s what you meant to do: you’re meant to click on the camera button with your bluetooth on and then apparently it will automatically connect, but that didn’t happen with my phone. So i’ve left the review. Um i’m, not sure how to fix that, because of research i’m, not sure how to fix a problem and i’ve restarted my phone and everything. So i think it’s just a bug or something, but i will try again meanwhile we’re doing that. I don’t know if you can see here on the record button here, if you press that that is going to record a video and in the video you can double press. As i said, you can double press get m button to uh switch from portrait and landscape mode, so that’s really handy in case. You want to do any cool transitions. Unfortunately, it doesn’t come with like a button that you can spin because well it does, but you can do that in the app and i’m, not sure why i am having problems with the app um. So gas not very good at the moment, and then we have inga box. We have this usbc cable here which just simply connects into here and that can be usb and can be plugged into any mobile phone dock or whatever you have, and then in here create magnetic moments.
If you open it up, it has a magnet here and a bag here, so you can carry it so i’m going to take a bag out first. This is what it looks like osmo dgi, dji osmo. So i think dji have just shortened the name down because it used to be all the others were used to be i osmo mobile free to whatever they were, but now dji have shortened the name down so it’s, just om4, which is really handy and useful. So you don’t keep saying osmo mobile yeah, so that’s not really comfortable and leathery, not it’s not going to leave any scratch marks on there and then also. We have this this side to it as well, which is a magnet another magnet that if you don’t want to clamp um it onto your phone clamp the thing onto your phone, you can use that magnetic thing and um in here in this little packet. If i just open that it has in it one here a wipe and secondly, a drying thing, so you can clean and dry your back of your phone so again, it’s, nice and clean for this um a little sticker, and then you put that on and then Put the dji magnet on it also has it’s a bit like um. Would you call it one of them? I can’t remember what’s called like a pocket. Um thing you can do. You can just use these wipes to clean your phone and it comes with an alignment guide here.
I don’t know if you can see that um, but it has instructions on on how to wipe your case and phone so that you can put a magnet on. So that is really helpful. Then what is really handy? Oh you also. It comes with silicone gel to obviously make sure no water gets in um. It has a little instruction manual here as quite quick, but if you want to go deeper inside here, it does have loads of different instruction manuals. It has a dji, quick start guide here and safety and the magnetic ring holder guide. So you can do that as well. That’S what’s in the box, and if i turn on my phone, i have the dji memo app installed, so um you’ll be able to see screen recording up here. What happens if i go into the app a dji memo to access your photos and media and app? So click allow again it will download loading resource file, so that should happen pretty quickly 94, so that happens really fast, which is good because you don’t want to waste time again. It says resource file loaded successfully installing and then you can read all this but i’m. Not going to you just press agree, agree: did your product improvement program agree and then it says, allow dji memo to access the device location allow and then you will see a little guide here tap here to select file and start editing tap here in the top Left tap here to connect device and in the top right tap to view tutorials.
So what happens? How you’re meant to connect it? You press the little camera in the corner, make sure you have your bluetooth on and then it’s searching. This is the problem that i got it’s searching right now and it says no osmo found ensure osmo is powered on and place it near the mobile device um. So if i press help go down to osmo, i don’t know why this is happening because i’ve updated the app i’ve restarted my phone and everything i can do um so i’m, not sure, but on the app it only goes up to osmo mobile 3. Not before that i’ve got so um i’m gon na click, osmo not found and it’s telling me to reset bluetooth connection, press and all hold good trigger, shutter and record button and press m button simultaneously and wait around one second um one. Second, when the bluetooth connection is reset and we connected to osmo so i’ve tried that and it’s not doing it, but i can show you what it’s like if i press enter live view and press allow dji to allow record audio, allow you want to allow all Them and then it should here. Oh, if i go here and press here, then you can see that on screen what it looks like and you can switch the camera view hello. You can switch your camera view and also it comes with really hyperlapse settings comes with hyperlapse hyperlapse time lapse.
Um video photo pan pan and story so and then in store. You can i’m noticed again but i’m being careful because i don’t get want to get copyrighted. If you press the three dots in the corner, then you can turn flash on white balance grid and all these but it’s saying gimbal not connected and in a top fly. I don’t know why it’s doing that so that’s a problem. But if i come out of that, don’t worry because it still works. Don’T worry, i don’t need to tilt my head double tap, get m. I just go on my normal camera settings, camera app and then, if i wanted to, i could take a video from there and do that so guys, that’s, really it um. So it does come with the app to turn it off. Just press get m button press and hold that and then we’ll go back to the mode. Simply take your phone off, take the clamp off and then what you have to do. Then, if you have water combo undo here, if you put that on bring that back and then to fold it away what you do you twist it sometimes i even forget how to do this, you twist it and then it should be like that all nicely folded Up that was a tutorial how to use and a review how to use it. So i hope you liked that i’m. Sorry about that app, not working i’m, not sure what’s going on there, but if you are considering buying this or have already bought this and don’t know what to do.
I hope this helped you do. You really need a smartphone gimbal. It depends because smartphones um already nowadays have built in stabilization to the phone, so it’s, not your video and photos are not that shaky when you’re filming a video it’s gon na minim minimalize the shaking on the gimbal um. So it smooths out your footage and also yeah that’s it. It will give a pretty clean look to your videos um, but, as i said, you can get it if you want to do that, but most phones, these days have built in stabilization. So you don’t really need it so i’m going to say it depends it’s up to you to decide to get it and use it. If you want, if it’s worth the money that you’ve got. That is the answer to the question for today. Um that’s gon na, be it if you did enjoy this video make sure you click that red button down there subscribe click the like button and make sure you comment down below.
