This phone is now in the fours to like 500 low 500s right now and that’s around the same price as the galaxy a52. But this is not a comparison to that we’ll begin by talking about. Where does this phone stand? Right now in design – and i was actually quite disappointed when i picked up the s21 next to the galaxy s20. Just because i felt like samsung took a step back in terms of just a premium, feel they have this plasticky feeling back on this phone and overall, the s20, with its glass rear, the curved edges on the front. While i do like the flat display for the s21, a lot of people do this one just looks premium even though it’s the smaller s20 and not the s20 ultra. So definitely they kind of divided the line this year. By making you know their smaller phone, a cheaper phone feel a little bit cheaper than their ultra phone this year, whereas last year pretty much. All of them were basically the same level of premium now in terms of durability. This phone has been pretty great, it does have gorilla glass on the front and the rear it’s been pretty sturdy. However, of course, if you drop this thing, you will definitely get yourself a crack on the front or rear. This is glass i mean not, maybe not the first drop, but if you do drop it pretty heavy it’s kind of going to definitely crack up here.
The punch hole display very similar. What samsung has right now. This definitely still has 5g as well, so very good on the mobile front. Now, when talking about the overall look of the phone, though it kind of does look like 20 20 samsung just because they went with this whole different camera design this year, so they’re, basically, every year kind of changing their design. Samsung changes design a lot. They don’t stick with the same formula for years: it’s, good and bad it’s nice that they’re constantly innovating, but at the same time people have yesteryear. Samsung’S do feel like they have a slightly older design, and this one is no exception. It kind of looks slightly older, not old, but slightly older, and in a couple years it probably will look significantly older, but overall it still feels and looks very beautiful. Okay. So when it comes to display this is an area where the samsung galaxy s20 shined, because it gave you a 1440p panel samsung has lowered the resolution to 1080 and the newer ones. So if we go into settings go to display, this is also dynamic. Amoled 2x. Just like their latest version of display so very similar overall, it does have blue light filter there’s, no eye comfort shield, but this is basically the same thing you just have to tweak it yourself, it’s not constantly adjusting like the eye comfort but it’s still, okay, this One right here, high motion, smoothness, you can do the 120 hertz only in the 1080.
That could be a step back, but you know compared to the ultra over here on the s21, the phone that replaces this. This only has 1080. They just got rid of 2k altogether, not a fan of that, especially considering the price of the s line. So you can see right here, screen resolution go up to 1440p again, it does knock it down 260 hertz. But one thing i noticed about the s20 is that even in 60 hertz – and this goes for the s21s as well – even in 60hz – they’re, not horrible it’s, not a horrible experience, but it’s, definitely not as smooth as the 120 hertz. But if you’re just reading something – and you want the better text – you can switch this one over into 1440p. Unlike you can do, and you can’t do that on the s21 and when it comes to the software, you would be hard pressed to see a difference between the s21 and the galaxy s20 as well. So if you pick up an s20 right now, you’re getting essentially the same software experience, they both have one ui three, so they’re going to give you the same exact, everyday performance, and it has almost all of the same features as well. You have decks on here. You have decks on here. You have android 11 on here. You have android 11 on here. It does have the smart view on here. Smart view on here they do have enhanced processing.
I don’t think you need that on the s20 it’s always pretty much running top dog um over here on the s20 as well. You have similar things like reverse wireless charging. Power share. You know samsung just brought a lot of the features over to the s21 and in the settings menu. I got the bold text on here so don’t wonder: why is that text so dark over there? But you do have basically the same features here: let’s go to advanced features and check it out. So just take a look they’re, all very, very similar here on both phones, not a lot to speak of when it comes to features. Upgrade samsung’s been optioning out their phones for a long time. So, if you get the s20 now you’re on the latest kind of feel of software, nothing to really complain about or worry about here on this phone. In addition, you can tweak this out to your own liking by using the galaxy store and theming this thing out to the best of its abilities. In addition, you could use the galaxy store to theme out the samsung galaxy s20 to your liking. Just like you can do with other samsung phones, so you can really make this phone your own for the s20. Now, in the way of performance, the galaxy s20 does have the snapdragon 865 cpu now it’s, not like just because this, this phone is last year’s phone, that this is slow.
This is a beast processor, it’s, even faster than some mid rangers that are still launching today. So the 865 is a beast with the adreno 650 there’s, nothing wrong with the cpu right now, so definitely pretty good and this phone was equipped with 12 gigs of ram, whereas this phone right here the newer s21, is equipped with eight. Now you could say: well, this processor is more efficient, we don’t really need it, but i i just like having more ram again leading to this phone feeling more premium. It performs excellent. The s20 was. Finally when i started saying dang samsung, you are getting fast now. The s10 series was good, but this thing just took it to another level, so definitely the 865 boss cpu still runs very good to this day. Another area that you might like about this phone is: it comes with the same 128 gigs as the s21, but you can expand the storage as well on this phone, so this does have expandable memory. The newer phones axed the expandable memory very disappointing for a long time. Samsung users have been using that the s20 provides you that so it does exist. You don’t have to get the latest phone to get that feature. If you really want it now in terms of the camera setup, this is also a very well equipped camera we’re talking about a phone that’s only a year old. Most of these features had already existed.
We have our main lens right here. We have the punch in 3x, you can go out 0.5. You can also go 30x so when they’re advertising their space zoom for the a52 that we just seen, this already existed on the galaxy s20. So you can also change your aspect ratios, so you can also change your aspect ratios in here. You have a 64 megapixel camera here, not the 108, but still 64 is still a pretty high resolution. In addition, if you go to more, you have a ton of modes here, night mode, food mode, pro mode pro video super slow, mo no director’s view, but still you have plenty going on with this phone now in terms of the results, i found them to be Very good on the rear camera, the dual pixel af is pretty darn fast. To respond to pretty much all you know things you want to take a photo and video of does very well. This also could do 8k, which i found to be a little bit finicky. The 8k didn’t always focus properly. You have to set that up on a tripod to really get the best ak you’re going to get, but this phone can do really good video as well on the front. It can also do pretty good video on that 10 megapixel. Camera, however, i found that the video on the front was a little bit inconsistent between mode, so if you’re on the 1080 60 and then you go to the 4k 30, it just looks different.
I don’t know what it is. Just doesn’t match up: it’s, not consistent. So you know, front facing camera, did need some work and the newer ones not majorly improved either. I think on the s21, so front facing camera can do some work, but at least you have all the modes you need – and i think you’re going to be pretty happy that at least you can do a lot of creation with it so i’m, not saying it’s, Unusable i’m just saying that it could use some work but yeah. This is a loaded camera with features as well. It just doesn’t have the same sensors as the newer phones, and i would say that the galaxy s 21 just kind of does better. With the people photos. I found that they they look a little bit less. You know processed on the newer phones here, but uh with this phone. They might look a little bit more beautified that’s. Just all. I noticed with the the differences with these two. So when it comes to the audio, should you make very loud external stereo speakers? In addition, dolby atmos boosts that up even more on this phone you’ll find it over here i do always have it enabled, because it makes it a lot louder. Yes, definitely the audio. They talked about this at the a50 event, the a52 event that they’re bringing stereo speakers again, a phone that already had it and around the same price, galaxy s20.
So nick bro talk about the 4 000 milliamp hour battery in here, and i got ta say that if you’re going hard on this you’re still gon na make it through the day i found myself getting through every day with this phone, you know regular usage day. You’Re gon na get through it if you’re heavy on it. If you’re playing games and stuff you’re gon na kill this battery before the end of the day, if you’re doing 4k video all day, you’re doing 8k you’ll kill this battery before the end of the day, but it’s got enough capacity. I think to make most people happy and make it through the day now, of course, if you’re on the 1440p mode you’ll take a hit, 5g does take a little bit of a hit on it, but it’s equipped with a relatively large size battery. I mean this battery is actually larger than the one in the 12 pro max, so that’s pretty funny, considering that this phone is more like the size of the 12 pro, but definitely this device right here will make it the day. I think you’re going to end the day with around 10 to 20 percent, though on a regular heavy use day, though so it’s not the best you’re not going two days, you’ll you’ll win the top off, but you do have the reverse wireless charging. It charges plenty fast enough, so talking about phone calls and performance. I don’t really have to go on and on about this because samsung’s been doing this area very good for a while.
I had very good speaker phone call, very good reception, pretty much everywhere. I went and 5g surprisingly considering. I think this is one of their first. You know: mainstream 5g phones. This one right here definitely did very good for a first 5g phone. So is this galaxy s20 worth it for 450 500 bucks. I think it’s worth it for a specific person and that person is somebody who wants flagship, feel flagship, specs at galaxy, a prices right now, because they, the stone, has definitely come down. If you don’t want a mid range or samsung, you want a samsung that feels premium, but you are not paying 700. You are not paying eight nine hundred bucks. You don’t want this one because you’re not paying that you’re gon na be very happy with a pickup of this. The s20 plus i don’t know about the ultra. It had some focus issues: that’s 20 ultra but you’ll – be very happy with one of these pickups right now, you’re getting 1440p dynamic amoled displays on here better than the super amoled on the a series you’re. Getting this premium glass curve display here front and rear. Just beautiful overall design and build, but where you would be making a mistake if you were to buy this phone right now, is if you’re the person who’s constantly striving to get the latest and greatest the overall best smartphone cameras. I think you’ll be slightly disappointed. If you think you’re gon na get the phone with the absolute best cameras, it’s, probably better options in this price range, if you care only about camera, but i think from pure.
You know tech standpoint like the the most options you’re gon na get the most loaded with features for around this price. This phone is kind of hard to beat right now to be quite fair with you, especially if you really like samsung we’re talking samsung here thumbs up. If you enjoyed the video, let me know if you’re picking up an s20 this year or you just like whatever i don’t care about that phone anymore. Let us know down below in the comments i’ll catch you all in the next episode nick here be sure to be well and peace.
