So the poco f3 is finally here well it’s been here since yesterday, but obviously a day is not enough, so i can give you a full review, but i feel that it’s plenty of time to give you like a first impressions, video. So exactly what we are doing now. First of all, we have to talk about specs because that’s, what pocophones are all about crazy, good specs for a very low price. So inside this phone we have the snapdragon 870 and in my case i have eight gigs of ram and 256 gigs of internal storage. You can also get a version of this device with six gigs of ram and 128 gigs of internal storage, but keep in mind that the phone cannot take an sd card, so buy the one that has enough internal storage for your needs. So probably this one is ideal, the one with eight gigs of ram and 256 gigs of internal storage. Now, for those of you that, like benchmark scores well, this phone gets a higher benchmark score than the samsung galaxy s21 and funny enough this phone is half the price of a samsung galaxy s21, all right! So let’s start with a very quick unboxing. I know that some of you like to know what comes in the box so first of all, you’re gon na find a clear case for the phone that’s. Definitely a good addition, you’re going to find the usbc to a 3.
5 mil audio jack adapter that’s. Also a good addition, because the phone doesn’t actually have a 3.5 mil audio jack. I was kind of hoping it would have one since this is kind of like a budget phone, and most budget phones have that. But no, there is no 3.5 mil audio jack on this device. Next time, you’re going to find a 33 watt fast charger and charging the phone from 0 to 100 is done in just under one hour, which is quite impressive. But again the phone doesn’t have the biggest battery out there and, of course, you’re gon na find the usbc charging cable all right and going back to the phone. Well, another thing that’s super impressive about it has to be the screen. So this is a 6.67 inches amoled screen with 1080p resolution and also a high refresh rate, so 120 hertz refresh rate. This is not something that you typically find for a lot of budget phones. The screen looks super good. The viewing angles are really good. The colors are nice and vibrant. The blacks are obviously very deep because we have an amoled screen, so those pixels actually turn off and the screen gets bright enough to be used outdoors once again, something that doesn’t usually happen with a lot of budget phones. So very very impressive screen on this device and the screen is also covered by gorilla glass 5., so it shouldn’t get them scratched that easily and the back is also made out of glass and that’s, also gorilla glass 5 on the back.
Now the frame seems to be made out of plastic. That could be a downside for some, but it doesn’t look bad. So the phone doesn’t look or feel bad by any means on the right hand, side of the device we have, the volume keys and the power button. Then the power button is also a fingerprint scanner. So unlocking the phone is super simple. You just touch that fingerprint scanner and the phone will unlock in less than half a second and the fingerprint scanner does work really well, and the phone also supports face, unlocking just in case you don’t want to use that fingerprint scanner on the top. We also have holes for the second speaker, so the device has two speakers, one at the bottom and one at the top. And yes, the speakers do sound. Quite good and i’ll show you a quick example in just a second at the top here. We also have the ir blaster. So, yes, the phone can be used as a remote control for your tv. Just to give you an example at the bottom here we have the slot for the sim card, so the device can take two sim cards. At the same time, we have the usbc charging port and, of course, the holes for the other speaker and the microphone. So let me show you a quick example, so you can hear how the speakers like sound light, has just never stopped Music and, as you’ve heard for yourself, the speakers do sound, quite decent, alright, moving to the front and more specifically, to the front facing camera.
So this is a 20 megapixel camera, but personally i’m, not a big fan of that silver ring that we have around the camera. I feel the phone would have looked better if that silver ring would have been black, the camera wouldn’t be as noticeable. I guess it depends what wallpaper you’re using um, of course, and of course some. These are some examples of some selfies that i took the device today and um yesterday. So, yes, the pictures are on par with other budget friendly device that we’ve seen from xiaomi lately. Moving on to the back of the device: here we have a 48 megapixel main camera, we have a macro lens and then we have an ultra wide camera and the phone can also record in 4k at 30 frames per second. So that is the maximum recording resolution. With the main camera – and we have image stabilization available at that resolution, the phone also supports a night mode for the main camera and the ultra wide lens, and basically all the pictures that you are seeing on the screen right now were taken with this device today And yesterday so pretty decent pictures for a budget phone i’m, also working on a camera comparison between this and an iphone 12. Just so i can show you what this device can do when compared to a much more expensive phone. So hopefully i will have that video ready later today or early tomorrow. So overall the cameras do seem quite decent for a phone at this price.
The poco f3 runs miui 12, which of course is based on android 11, and we have the same poco skin. That we’ve been seeing with a lot of poco devices lately, so this is slightly different than the skin that you would find on a xiaomi device, but overall this is still running miui, even though there are a couple of extra features in here when compared to a Xiaomi phone, a feature that i really like and the feature that’s also available on a bunch of xiaomi phones – is the always on display. So you can keep the screen on them, so you can see notifications times and so on and of course, that’s possible, because we have an amoled screen with the 8 gigs of ram that we have available. Of course you can do multitasking. You are going to be able to play any games out there. I actually played them call of duty for about an hour yesterday and yes, the phone did get a bit warm, but not crazy, warm so it can lower its graphic performance. So the cooling for this device seems to be pretty decent as well. Of course, i need to try the phone and test it out a bit more, but for the first impressions the phone does perform well for graphic intensive tasks. Of course, the gps unit inside it works great, but that’s the case on most xiaomi phones, no matter how cheap or how expensive they are.
We have a variety of sensors and the phone even has an nfc chip inside, so you can make payments with it. So definitely another great addition not to mention that the phone also supports 5g connectivity. Personally, my carrier doesn’t have 5g connectivity quite yet so i wasn’t able to test out the phone on a 5g network, but depending where you live, you may actually be able to use this on a 5g network so to quickly conclude this video. After using this phone for just a day, of course, a day is not enough, but after using it for just a day, does feel like an impressive phone, mostly taking consideration the price. We always have to take the price into consideration, because well otherwise, you’re gon na spend more money and potentially get something better, but for the price i don’t think you can get anything better and anything that’s faster than this device. I expect that on one charge, i’ll be able to get somewhere between eight and maybe ten hours of screen time. But if you play a lot, maybe a bit less because it doesn’t have the biggest battery out there. But, as i said for the price, the poco f3 is quite an impressive phone. Hopefully i’ll get that camera comparison ready, maybe early tomorrow, so we’ll uh we’ll have to see how that goes.
