However, they are still well over 100 quid. So if your budget is a bit tighter, maybe check out the fresh new huawei free buds 4i. Instead, here in the uk, the freebuds 4i will be available from march 26th and the asking price is just 80 quid, so a significant drop over those pros. Despite the fact, they’ve got a lot of the same premium features, including that active noise cancellation, but are they actually any good? Well here’s, my full huawei free buds, 4i? True wireless earbuds or this reviews honey red version, which is actually going to be available slightly later than the white and black models around sort of mid april, and i was at 100 hang on for the honey red, because i am absolutely in love with this color. Even if the case does kind of resemble a slightly squashed baby bell now, each bird is super light at just 5.5 grams and of course, you’ve got that lovely silicone tip, just like the free buds pro so super comfortable to wear even for hours. At a time. You’Re three different sizes of silicone tip per bud, so hopefully you won’t have any stress finding a size that fits your own ear. Orifices perfectly. I found the default size was absolutely fine for mine and once they’re lodged in there they steer lodged in there as well. So you can absolutely mosh up a storm, and the 3 buds 4i are definitely one of the most metal earbuds around in this honey red colour, because it basically looks like you’re gushing blood out of your skull now, unfortunately, there’s no official ip written for water resistance With huawei 3 buds 4i but touchwood, they seem to be all right, even when they get quite damp.
As i discovered when i found myself getting caught in those freak rainstorms that the uk seems to be absolutely adoring at the moment, so big thanks mother nature. For those testing opportunities you prick now it’s bluetooth, 5.2 connectivity here on the free buds, for i had absolutely no issues pairing up with a variety of different smartphones uh. All you got ta do is flip the lid press, this little button on the side of the case and it’ll enter pairing more than just going to bluetooth menu on your phone bob’s your uncle and that connection stayed strong and stable when i was out and about Obviously, i haven’t had a chance to probably stress test them by heading to a busy area because you’re kind of supposed to avoid busy areas at the moment, but you know otherwise fine, unfortunately there’s no auto ports feature when you yank out one or both of the Buds or whatever you’re listening to be it podcast audio book or whatever we’ll continue streaming, which is slightly annoying it’s, always nice to have that feature. But thankfully you do get touch controls here on the huawei freebirds 4i. These are very basic touch controls. However, the touch responsive area is just up at the very top of the stem here. What you can do is you can double tap in order to play your music, you can double tap again in order to pause your music or you can also long press in order to cycle between the e and c modes and the awareness modes.
There’S. No single tap functionality, which i think is good because occasionally you know, if you’re just like adjusting the butter, you accidentally brush them, you don’t want your music to be you know, pausing or skipping, or anything like that. I thought these controls were super intuitive it’s. Very, very rare for me to double tap and for nothing to happen. For instance, almost always works, unfortunately, not the most responsive. Generally, you will have to double tap and then wait a second or so for your music to actually pause but it’s, not terrible. But of course, compared with some true honesty buzz. These are quite limited: controls, there’s no option for changing the volume by you know, stroking that stem there’s no way of skipping a track or anything. So if you want to do something like that, you will have to whip out the old fella and by old fellow i mean your smartphone sorry, i don’t know why i called it that you should at least have the option of being able to slightly customize these Controls uh once the buds go on sale because they will be supported by the huawei ai life app, which you grab from the likes of the google play store. Unfortunately, they’re not supported by the app right now, because they’re not officially out there now the best thing about the huawei free buds. 4I. True wireless earbuds by far, is that active noise cancellation. I have not heard better enc, certainly on the true wireless earbud for under a hundred quid, it appears to use the exact same tech as the huawei free buds pro, which are, of course, considerably more expensive, as once you’ve got them lodged in there as long as You’Ve got a decent seal on the go turn on that.
In so you’ll be able to walk down a busy high street with cars and lorries and buses roaring past you and quite happily, listen to a podcast to an audiobook without to bump the volume. All the way up, very impressive indeed, certainly for a pair of true wireless earbuds and no issues with a wind as well, even if it’s quite a breezy day. Sometimes the anc can give you this sort of like distorted effect, but certainly had none of that with the free buds for eye. And then, if you want to be aware of your surroundings, then of course you can just switch to awareness mode where those external mics will start pumping in all of the noise going on all around you uh just so you know what’s going on in case. You know crossing a busy road. You want to have a conversation with someone you’re, too lazy, to pull out the buds, something like that as far as the actual audio quality goes well, the three buds for i rock at 10, mil drivers with the usual fine tuning behind the scenes and certainly bass Fans will not be particularly impressed by the three buds 4i. You don’t get the same incredible clarity. They get with something like the free buds pro, but certainly for a sub 100 pair of true wireless airbus. The audio quality is absolutely fine. You know as long as you’re, not an audio snob, and you want to hear you know all of those fine little details and everything.
These will do the job for most genres of music. Quite happily, and certainly vocals, come through nice and cleanly as well. For the likes of podcasts and audio box, and when you crank the volume all the way up, there’s no distortion and that noise reduction tech comes in quite handy for phone calls as well. Certainly, when i was uh making calls using the three buds for eye other person’s voice was nice and clear. Apparently my voice was clear and the background noise was uh reduced. While i was speaking once i stopped speaking, then the background noise was quite full on, but at least when you are speaking it does seem to reduce the background rumble. So your words come through nice and clear, and one big advantage that the freebirds 4i actually offer over those more expensive pros is their superior battery life. You get around sort of nine ish hours with the anc knocked off, but if you do have, the nc on you’ll still get a very strong sort of seven ish hours on a single charge. Certainly great news, even if you’re going to be taking a fairly long whole flight at some point in the future. That’S, certainly very good for a pair of true wireless earbuds, especially ones that are quite dinky, are like these and then, of course, once they are depleted or when you’re just done listening to whatever you’re listening to just shove them back in that carry case, which, as I say slightly resembles a tasty pocket snack that somebody has sat on a bit.
Unfortunately, that charging case could only fully recharge the buds one time uh before you need to actually power up the case again as well. So that’s not ideal. If you are going away for a long trip, you’re gon na have to you know, probably recharge it again at some point and there’s no support for qi wireless charging as well. So if your phone does support reverse wireless charging, you might want to consider maybe upping your budget to the pros, if possible, but overall got ta say for 80 quid very much impressed by the free bud 4i as long as, as i say, you’re, not an audio Sub you’re expecting the very best sort of audio quality. The battery life is fantastic, the anc is brilliant uh and that honey reds love it so that’s my thoughts, and it would be great to hear from you guys as well.
