Comica VM10-K2 PRO – Multi-functional Smartphone Video Kit Review (Great for YouTube Shorts!)
So inside the box we get some instructions and we get this rather nice soft case which has all the goodies inside so let’s dive straight in and see what we get in here. So we get a nice outdoor windshield, we get the tripod itself and we get a microphone which is mounted on a little shock mount to attach onto the unit and a couple of other pieces as well, which we’re going to require to construct the tripod. So let’s put the thing together: Music, okay, so here it is all fully constructed and it’s a nice solid feeling unit. Uh it’s weakness is certainly in its legs, so you wouldn’t want to slam it down on a surface but it’s, certainly sturdy and robust enough to keep a nice stable, shot. Okay, there’s a couple of things that we still need to add another thing from inside the pack. Is this essential trrs to trs connection, which is going to enable you to connect this to your smartphone? So a tip ring sleeve is going to go into your microphone, and your tip ring ring sleeve is going to go into your smartphone, so let’s grab a smartphone and attach so here’s uh mine, which is a motorola and it’s a really nice easy fit with this Control here on the device so now we’ve got that nice and snug connected up. We can connect our tip ring ring sleeve to our phone and we’re ready to go now at the start of this video i mentioned youtube shorts and the eagle eyed amongst you will have noticed that so far i’ve been using the smartphone in a landscape position, whereas For youtube shorts, of course we need to be in portrait, but don’t worry.
The guys at camarga have thought this through and this roller ball here, flicks down snugly into a divot into the design, allowing you to film perfectly in portrait and whilst i’m talking about the design. You might have noticed that the tripod flips down to a very tactile handheld position perfect for handheld, filming okay. So now that we’re set up let’s get filming. Okay, so welcome to a slightly different view for real home studio. So now we’re using my motorola phone with the camika mic and tripod set attached now it would be a bit unfair to compare it against this condenser going through the dbx286s. So for this test, what i’m going to do is now unplug the microphone. So you can hear what the camera sounds like without the mic attached and now we’re, using the inbuilt mic from the camera. Now one of the other handy things about the mounted microphone from this kamika tripod is that you can get it slightly closer to the source, and here we are back with the kamika mic, which i found to be a little bit less abrasive than the inbuilt microphone And if you’re filming outside in windy conditions, like i am today, the kamika tripod set also comes with a dead cat, which is something you won’t be able to put on your internal microphone in the camera, which can result in unusable footage when it comes back to Edit, so in summary, if you’re filming on your smartphone and you’re really fed up of this ah or with cheaper, unstable tripod solutions, doing this then kamikaze vm10.
K2 pro is a pretty good way to go. It’S a very well thought out piece of gear and it covers a lot of bases when it comes to smartphone, video filming and as long as you’re gentle with the tripod legs it’s going to be your best friend for a lot of video filming in the future. I do hope you found that review helpful today. If you did please remember to like subscribe.
