Not to be mistaken, for the vanilla Spark 7.. I guess this also means the Spark 6 isnt coming to Africa.. First off lets see what we have in the box.When. You open it up: youre greeted with an envelope that houses, the SIM ejection tool, a warranty card and a transparent, TPU Case. Lets keep it to the side for now. We have the smartphone wrapped in plastic.. This is the Alps Blue color, not sure what other color variants are available. Lets try on that case., Pretty basic, no raisivity or anything there. On the bottom compartment. We have the a standard, 10 watt charger, a micro, USB cable and a pair of headphones., The same cheap ones. We saw on the Pova.. A few users have reported that it stopped working after a couple of weeks and for some they couldnt pick calls with it.. Just something of note, By the way, theres a screen protector already applied., It actually looks like it was made for a different phone.. You just go ahead and take it out and replace with a glass one instead. On the front. You have a 6.8 inch, HD Plus IPS LCD display with 90hz refresh rate.. We have a dot notch that houses an 8 megapixel camera with dual flash.. On the back. You have a 16 megapixel Triple Camera setup with quad flash.. You also have a finger print sensor and a rather bold branding. On the left. You have a 3 in 1 tray.
That house is 2 4gLte, nano SIMs and an SD card On the right. You have a volume, rocker and power button. On the top. You have nothingOn the bottom, you have a speaker micro, USB port, a microphone and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.About its design. The back of the Spark 7p looks like it was inspired by the Oppo Reno 5, which actually is an aesthetic worth replicating.. The camera bump is almost non existent and that glastic camera layout has a better appeal than the blacked out ones from stereotypical 2020 phones. Using it as torch light. Has this halo, wy effect., The back and frame are made from plastic and it does not attract fingerprints at all. Its neither heavy nor light. On the front. Tecno has taken us back to 2019s Spark 4 with those thick looking bezels and dot notch. The punch hole on the Spark 5 looks much nicer. Asides that the display is also piss poor when it comes to outdoor visibility, and I had to triple check that it Was set to max brightness. Now some AMOLED displays have this type of outdoor visibility issues under direct sunlight, e.g, The Pixel 5, but my previous TECNO devices didnt have this issue with their LCD panel.. Now, when you find a nice shade, youd see that the display is not even washed out at all. Colors, look decent. Well saturated for a 720P display. Youtube, no longer caps, videos per your devices max resolution, but dont waste your data by setting it to 1080P.
. We get 90hz by default on here for smoother scrolling and an option to switch to 60hz and then some custom option. Its supposed to be a big selling point. But I will tell you why its not that big a deal later in this video.. My Spark 7p unit comes in 128, Gigs storage and 4Gigs of RAM.. You get 113 Gigs of available storage. Were running on Android 11, with HiOS version 7.6 slapped on top of it.. It definitely has a lot of the same features as the Spark 5 Pro with the addition of a few new ones like App twin. That works like app cloner.. It lets you have 2 Facebook and WhatsApp apps respectively.. Quick settings is fully packed with everything you could possibly need. .Tecno still hasnt done anything about the bloatware and ads. Its too damn much and not all of them can be uninstalled.. Also, the ads on HiOS is giving MiUI a run for its money., Not just ads apps literally install themselves and start showing popping up notifications in literally any interface.. It makes notifications a whole lot messier.. There are ways to get around some of it, but TECNO just ends up re, enabling it after every Monthly security update.. The Spark 7p uses the Mediatek Helio G70 Octa Core CPU clocked at 2.0GHZ and its the same one on the Camon 16 and 16 Pro.. This is an adequate gaming midrange chip for the average user and Im quite accustomed to it.
From the Infinix Note 7 to the TECNO Pova., It is much more powerful than the Helio A25 CPU that ships with the vanilla Spark 7.. I didnt experience slow downs while opening apps or running them simultaneously on split screen. Hate. How this feature can only split in equal parts., So much space going to waste.. If youve seen my Spark 5 pro review, youd know how much the Helio A25 CPU lagged while using split screen.. This is a big big upgrade as far as Spark series goes., The fingerprint sensor placement is a little too high and a little too small. So, while the fingerprint sensor is fast and accurate, your finger is not likely to go that high by default until you get used to it.. I, however, didnt get used to it. The less secure face, unlock unlocks in every type of lighting and even in pitch darkness. Your side, view. People ought to be careful about using face unlock from phones to avoid stories that touch.. When it comes to gaming. As usual, I played PUBG on HD, graphics and High frame rates, the highest PUBG setting for this phone.. It ran pretty smoothly The 90hz didnt come bundled with high touch sampling rate. It seems. Playing PUBG on this guy for the first time felt a little uninspired or maybe because I had high expectations that were not met.. It actually is no different from the Pova. In terms of Gameplay., The Spark 7p is powered by a 5000mAh battery, and this is the one department that Spark has always excelled in and that has not changed.
. I suggest you use it in 90hz because it still gives you more than a full day worth of battery life.. It takes a little over 3 whole hours for a full charge because does not support fast charging.. The Spark 7ps camera interface is pretty simple and they removed the Slow mo feature that the Spark 5 Pro had and added portrait video. Lets see some photos. Using it outdoors. The selfie camera is giving me low end, processing and washed out colors., Which is what weve come to expect from Spark seriesWith portrait mode. The depth sensing is actually not bad.. The primary camera has a better grip on contrast and saturation.. It is also more detailed.Portrait mode for the primary camera is over saturated. Im. Looking a little grilled. Probably needs an update to fix whatever is going on here., Comparing it with the Spark 5 Pros camera. I see the improvement, especially in skin tones and color accuracy from the primary camera, but on the Selfie camera Spark 5 Pro actually does a much better job. Btw. The primary camera is prone to over exposure.. Some pictures come out nice, but I found myself talking multiple shots to avoid photos like this. Now, just for good measure. I put the Redmi note 10 in the mix. Just so you know that when Im comparing one low end camera to another, just coz one appears better. Doesnt mean its anywhere near midrange quality. Indoors in this selfie. The Spark 7p is slightly sharper, but then it turned my complexion into the color of that wood behind me.
. They definitely should have tested this on dark skin before releasing the product in Africa. For the back camera. I see all the improvement brighter image better skin tones and more details packed into the shot. The dual front, facing flash doesnt do much in pitch darkness Im, not loving this result.. It records videos in 2K for the front and back camera. I feel like the Spark series is desperately trying to evolve and it is doing so by offering 90hz refresh rate and a gaming chip.. It still has all the usual cons, like Micro, USB port, cheap earphones and the 720P LCD display, but these new developments have given the Spark series a hell of a kick.. However, I cannot help but feel like spec bumps like this are a double edged sword in your pocket, because you can expect a significant price increase from what used to be the sub 100 Spark series.. I will say that if your budget is over 70 thousand Naira or 145 USD, I will not recommend you buy it for the CPU or the 90hz refresh rate, because there are levels to 90hz, and this one is like those extra cameras., Mostly for fancy.. If youre not a die hard, TECNO fan the Redmi 9, currently retails under that price point and it packs the Helio G80 CPU a FHD display. Thats a much better bargain to me than 90hz and vibes.. As at the time of making this video. The price has not been announced, but as soon as it is Id be leaving it in my pinned comment.
Do. Let me know if youd like me to compare it with the Hot 10 or Pova or any other smartphone that Ive reviewed. If you enjoyed this video. Please give it a thumbs up and share. It also follow me on Twitter or Instagram to see what im up to.
