This was announced on march 29th alongside the xiaomi mi 11 ultra. Now you might be thinking. I thought this phone only charges at 67 wire speeds, you’re correct. That is indeed the charging speed, so this 80 wireless charge is actually a bit um like future proofing for xiaomi, because there are no xiaomi smartphones or any other smartphone for that matter that charges at 80 watt wireless speeds. So that means right now. If you get this charger, you can only use it at 67 watt charging speeds, which is still pretty damn amazing man for reference, the new iphone 12 they max out at 7.5 wireless charging and the galaxy s 21 ultra only charges at 15 watt wirelessly. Now this 80 watt wireless charger sells for 499 chinese yarn, which comes out to about 76 us dollars now. 76. Us dollars for wireless charger is relatively high, especially in china, but this package actually includes a 120 watt charging, brick that you can top up. I believe the xiaomi mi 10 ultra is the only phone that can charge at 120 watt right now. But that means you are getting a wireless charger and a 120 watt charging brick with the required usb c cable in 176 dollar package. So i think factor in all that, then the price is actually pretty reasonable. Wow. I like this design. It has this um postmodern, futuristic, vibe, it’s, very angular. This wire charger has two wireless charging coils inside that allows the me11 ultra to charge vertically or horizontally.
If you look at the bottom, there’s a giant vent and a fan inside, in fact, when you power on this charger, you can feel air coming out of this little slit right here. So it’s like a mini fan that helps cool the phone as it’s charging, but anyway enough talk, let’s, put this charger to a real time test: okay, let’s begin testing, so my xiaomi mi 11 ultra 76 battery life at 2, 45 p.m. Right now so i’m gon na put it on the charger you see. The charging animation has begun, let’s hit the timer, so i’ll check back in three minutes and then five minutes and see how fast charging. So you see right now, it’s going 67 watts. So it’s not the 80 watt that the charge is capable of but okay we’re, almost at the three minute mark now let’s check the percentage, so the phone is at 82 right now so went from 76 to 82 in three minutes. Okay, we’re just crossed the five minute mark and the phone is at 87 percent battery life, so it went 76 to 87 that’s, 11 percent in five minutes, so yeah the 67 watts wireless charger can basically charge the mi 11 ultra at about 2 a minute and Keep in mind i’m, not even charging at the most optimal rate right now, because how batteries work is they’re designed to charge fastest in the middle portion. Basically, when it’s at, like 40 to 60 70 that’s, when the battery charges the fastest once it crosses 80 percent, the charging actually slows down right now, because the batteries already jumped past 80 it’s, not charging at peak speed.
If i was testing this at 40 percent, it probably would have jumped higher than 11, but nonetheless, you know that this xiaomi wireless charger can top up the mi 11 ultra at two percent per minute, probably more, and you also have to keep in mind two percent Of the mi 11 ultra’s battery is more than two percent in say the iphone 12 battery, because this is two percent of five thousand milliamp hour battery two percent of five thousand is one hundred, so that means this charger is pumping in 100 milliamp hour of juice Into this phone every 60 seconds, but um anyway, that’s about it for this quick test and this quick look at this 76 dollar 80 watt wireless charger from xiaomi xiaomi is pumping out a lot of crazy tech right now. Man and the fact that they’re putting out an 80 watt wireless charger now means a phone that can charge at 80. Watt is not that far away, maybe by the end of this year, who knows or maybe next year is me 12., so anyway that’s it.
