The road vlogger kit is an all in one solution. So, instead of going out and buying all these separate parts together, you can buy it in one kit and that kit includes a microphone. A dead cat, a mini tripod, a tripod mount an led light with a usbc charger, along with some gels or filters for the light. So first up we’ll test out the mic. The mic should sound, pretty good out here, arm’s length and pointed directionally at me, and i’ve got the dead cat on there too. So, even though it’s an airplane and wind and a pool should be pretty good, and just as a comparison here is the built in mic now, the 11 pro max has really good mics, and so it does well. It may not be that much of a difference right now, but the directional mic is better, especially when in noisy conditions, you’re, probably getting various noises around the environment right now, i have to check it when i’m in editing, but that’s the difference between the two mics. So the mic works great with no case it works really well when you plug it in it has a little click. However, this is a thin moment case. So it’s one of the thinnest cases you can actually get it really doesn’t work it’ll go in, but then it’s just barely there it’s not connected, and so that would be my one big gripe about this mic system is it’s great, that it connects directly to the Lightning port, but it doesn’t work well with a case all right: i’m shooting a shot of myself, shooting a shot of myself using the osmo action here and then the vlogger kit from rode and so yeah.
This is pretty meta, but this is the setup and the audio is being recorded on the rode mic and so now we’ll take a look at the led first up, a comparison, all right, no light there’s, actually a lot of available light in this room. So probably not the best test, but but now i’ll do the same thing with the light, all right and now with the light. And so you can see how it just fills in your face, and this would be good if you’re in a darker shooting environment, especially shooting at night, so using this would just depend on what you’re shooting come in handy if you’re using this kit in a journalism Setting doing interviews or vlogging youtube videos or really even zoom calls you can make your zoom calls look a lot better using this. So this light is an led light and it reminds me of the loom cube or the joby light that i reviewed in a past. Video smaller square, more of a spotlight led, and so these lights are daylight, balanced, it’s, one color and to change the color. They include these gels or filters. So this is not an rgb light, and so it comes with a little mount. And then you put these gels in that mount and then you put that on the light in my testing, i’ve used the diffusion primarily and it does work well, so they call this a vlogger kit and to me it’s, more of a youtube kit or a beginner’s Kit, it is very multi functional, and so i don’t think it should be limited to just vlogging and for that kind of stuff for daily use on a youtube channel or just doing social media.
This thing is pretty cool. What i like the best about it is the build quality. This tripod is really well built, and this tripod mount is made out of metal. It reminds me of the yulonzi mount it’s, actually almost identical to that. The microphone is well built, and it also is, of course, a rode mic, and so the sound quality is very good. It comes with a dead cat, and so that is really nice and i, like that, a lot for shooting outside you really need to use. One of these and it works well. What i don’t love is the led light. Now i, like it, it’s well made and it’s a good light it’s just today i would prefer to have a softer small led light. This is more of a spotlight and it works. Well, for what it does that’s just a personal thing, but i prefer more of the type from aperture or falcon eyes, those type of lights. Would i recommend it yeah. I would especially for beginners or everyday carry kind of setups. It really works well for those type of shooting situations, and i really like that it’s an all in one kit, so you buy one product, one box and you’ve got it and again i like other type of led lights better, but this one’s fine and truth be Told i rarely use an led light on my camera. I use it more for product lighting or background lighting.
That kind of thing it really just depends on how you’re going to be using the rig so yeah thumbs up for me, especially for beginners or vloggers, or youtubers, definitely check out this kit from a great brand. Of course, rode link is in the description.
