This is my first samsung flagship phone and i’m really kind of excited, and i was really excited about it. The one thing that i was really excited about was the cameras, not that i’m really expecting great photo quality, because i’ve seen samsung, processing and it’s, really not the thing that i love but for videos. This phone takes amazing video and this is an example of it. So this is 4k 60 frames per second footage shot with the front facing camera. Almost no android phone is giving you this right now, so it’s awesome that samsung’s actually willing to give this to you – and i got ta, say the footage like when you have good lighting like this. It looks real good, so yeah. This is an example of the 4k front facing camera i’m gon na stop it down to 1080p, so you guys can see what it looks like, but this is 4k all right now, we’re doing 1080p at 60 frames per second and, like i said, the footage still To me looks super crisp like just so good and yeah. This is what the front facing camera can do indoors, it’s, not quite so good and i’ll show you guys some footage from indoor shots later on, but outdoors when you have good lighting, you’re really hard to beat this camera all right and next up let’s talk about The rear cameras, which can do 4k at 60 frames per second or even up to 8k but i’m, not gon na, do that in this video i will cover 8k separately in a separate video, but, as you guys can see, this is 4k with the main camera And i think it looks super nice once again, outdoor with really really good lighting like the sun is just about to set, so this is probably the perfect time to record but yeah.
This is the kind of footage you guys can expect. Uh in terms of dynamic range and all that you can see the sky looking crisp clear, this is the uh stabilization. Also you guys can see it like. It is pretty stable footage. Nothing really to worry about here. The one thing that kind of sucks is the fact that you can’t switch over when you’re recording to the ultra wide camera uh. It can also do 4k 60 frames per second, but you can’t switch over to it and then you can’t do um the telephoto at 4k60. I think that’s limited to 4k30, but i will be showing you guys all those footages here shortly, but uh let’s do a quick little autofocus test. So here we are focusing on that and then and then there’s the hand, yeah pretty good, of autofocus it’s, pretty fast it’s a little blown out. I would say in my hand my hand is not this color, i would say, but there we are down all right. Next, stop let’s switch over to the ultra wide camera and now we’re on the ultra wide camera, and it is a much much wider. Camera like this is this gets super wide. This is not. This is the kind of footage you can actually see with your own eyes, so that’s really kind of nice, it’s, 120 degrees, field of view and yeah. This is what the ultrawide camera looks like once again, recording at 4k 60 frames per second to me.
It looks really good again, let’s see what kind of detail we’re getting here and i am really close to the leaves and it’s impressive how wide this ultra wide camera is let’s just get in super close now it doesn’t have the best uh focus for close. Like you cannot really get very close because it will not be able to focus on these items so that’s, something to know, but otherwise um focus is really good. As long as you can keep within a certain distance like if you go too far, he’s just gon na have a really hard time focusing on that, but far enough away, it’s pretty good uh. There is, i believe, no optical image stabilization on this camera, but because it’s so wide you don’t really need it. So this is what the ultra wide 4k 60 frames per second looks like okay, so now i’ve stepped down to 4k 30 frames per second one of the things to note about 4k 30 frames per second is the fact that you can actually switch between the cameras. Now, when you’re at 4k 30., so for example, now actually i can do the telephoto also. So this is three times zoom and it is not necessarily the best video quality, but it is not bad at all, like you can still make out some details, but um one of the things that’s really hard to do when you’re doing telephoto lens is, of course, The um, the motion is very exaggerated when you’re zoomed in like that, but uh samsung does a pretty good job with their stabilization to keep everything pretty good uh switching back over to the main lens.
This is what you expect at 4k30 and then you can also switch over to the ultrawide, and you can see just how much wider the ultra wide is when you can do this, so this is a regular and this is the ultra wide so yeah. Hopefully, this gives you guys a good idea of what this camera is capable of seriously. I have been really impressed and i will show you guys some more footage here just to let you know but yeah when you have good lighting. These cameras are probably some of the best on android for video now. One of the other features that i really really like about this camera is the fact that you can also shoot in manual mode, which is amazing. Most smartphones don’t give you manual controls over video, but the fact that this one does is really nice. Now i’ve cut this iso, probably down a little too low to crank that up a little bit. This is iso 200 we’re filming once again at 4k 60 frames per second, because that is available uh the definitely the autofocus is a little bit slower when you’re on the pro mode, but that’s pretty much. What you’d expect you’d want to do manual focus for that. So you can also switch over and start doing manual focus. So, for example, the sign is in focus. I can go very out of focus very quickly and get it back in focus and also has a lot of nice features and for pro video, so it’s.
Just an example that something that you can’t necessarily do on all android phones, but samsung, being samsung they’re going to give you all the features all right – and this is another cool little feature that samsung has it’s a new thing, called director’s view where you can actually Use basically, all the cameras to do stuff with so right now you guys are seeing me from facing camera, but you got also seeing my rear view and i can switch over and i have this nice little preview of all what the cameras are seeing. I can switch over to the ultrawide if i want to or if i want to show you something i can dramatically switch over to the telephoto, go back to the ultra wide and all i’m, just controlling it all from this thing, so that’s kind of nice, i Mean this is not something that i see myself using a ton, but if i was doing like a live stream or something or it’s not a feature, i see myself using a ton but it’s there and it’s kind of cool okay. Another really interesting feature that the samsung phone has with the front facing camera is portrait video. So if you guys notice, the background is pretty blurred right now, as it turned up all the way. If i turn it down all the way you can see it comes back into focus, they also have some other modes like this is called big circle.
So i guess everything comes into like these big boca balls, uh notice. If i do this, it does kind of glitch out a little bit, but that is interesting. Um this one is called color portrait. Everything in the background goes black and white. While i stay in color and then we have one more called glitch, this one’s kind of cool – i like this one, a lot where everything in the background glitches out once again. If i do this this, i think it’s a pretty cool little feature i’m. Once again, i don’t see myself using a ton of these features, but the fact that samsung puts them in if you’re someone who’s really into social media. If you post a lot, these are features that actually could come in handy and the fact that it’s actually happening on the camera not happening in post processing means it’s gon na, be there and it’s gon na look better. That means also you don’t have to do a ton of work later on, so that’s always good all right – and this is the kind of video you can expect from indoors – and this is the front facing camera once again, using 4k 60 frames per second, and this Kind of video you can expect i’m being lit terribly by this overhead light and yeah. This is basically what you’re gon na get if you’re indoors, recording video and you just have awful lighting um my advice.
Obviously, always i always just stand in front of a window, and it just looks it looks so much better, but yeah 4k for 60 frames per second indoor, video, okay and next up we’re, looking at indoor footage uh using the main camera. This is 4k 60 frames per second and actually sneak peek of another product i’ll be reviewing here soon. This is the liberty air 2 pros dope little uh, true wireless earbuds. These are the 6s or the liberty, air, so yeah, but anyways. This is what the footage looks like on the galaxy s21 using the main camera indoors. Next up, we’ll switch over to ultra wide, so you guys can see what that looks like at 4k, 60., all right so now we’re using the ultra red lens uh. Please ignore the ridiculous mess that’s around here. I basically never cleaned this room, but yeah you can see. You can once again see the fact that it just cannot focus at close distances with this phone um. With this lens, specifically, you will want to keep things a little bit further, so yeah. This is what 4k 60, with the ultrawide looks like indoors, all right, so i’ve stepped down now to 4k30, and you probably won’t notice much of a difference in terms of quality. At all, but this is the cloud quality you can expect and again when you’re at 4k30, you can actually switch between the lenses without having to go outside of the app.
So that’s a really nice feature and you can see you can do that and then you can also do it three times: zoom, oh it’s way too close, but yeah there. You guys have it. This is what it looks like, and this is, i think the telephoto is obviously the worst lens, especially with indoor video but yeah. That is what it looks like, so not bad. I honestly think the video recording is some of the best on this phone. Okay. Next up, let’s take a look at some of the photos you can get out of the galaxy s21. Now i have to start off by saying i’ve been really happy with the pictures that i’ve gotten outdoors with the galaxy s21 like the pictures, are really well saturated. They’Re really bright and they’re like perfect for posting things to social media. Now i do wish there’s a little bit more contrast because i, like the pixel look and how they do a contrasty look. But i think the pictures that i’m getting out of here are really respectable, and anybody picking up this phone taking pictures outdoors, you’re gon na be really happy now. The issues with this camera show up a little bit more when you’re indoors, because the shutter tends to be a little too slow. So, if you’re trying to take a picture of a fast object, for example, a child or a pet you’re gon na have a hard time, if you’re indoors, with not very good lighting, getting the picture right that you expect to get when you click on the shutter Button so the shutter is always a little bit slower and then the pictures tend to get blurred out.
So that part is, i think, the biggest downside of the galaxy s21 camera outdoors. It does really really good but indoors, with poor lighting it’s really hard to capture images well, but otherwise, you’re still getting some really nice colors indoors, as well. Um there’s, of course, a night mode which works. I think decently well, it’s still not a match for some of the other better night modes like the pixel ones or the uh iphone ones, but it still does a decent job and at least getting you a picture of something when it’s very dark outside all right. There you guys have it, that is a quick little look at what the cameras on the galaxy s21 are capable of, and i hope you guys got something out of this for me personally after looking at the footage. Definitely i’m happy with the cameras on this phone. Like the video quality is just so good on this phone and fact is i’m, taking a lot more videos these days, especially with having a small baby around, i want to capture all those moments and a camera that takes video is much more important to me right Now than a camera that takes good photos, because i have a good camera and i can take good photos anyway. So, and this phone also just takes pretty good photos honestly, no issues except for indoors, and there is a gcam mod available for this phone. Though i haven’t personally found one that’s a very stable one, once i do, i will make a video about it, but yeah overall, i think the galaxy 21, probably the best cameras on an android smartphone right now, yeah that’s, just where we are so yeah with that That’S pretty much it for this video like this.
