Many would think the k40 series is all done and dusted, but this is xiaomi we’re talking about. After all, and with that said, there’s a new addition to the family, the redmi k40 game, enhanced edition the device is only currently available in mainland china, so prices in the top right corner are based on the current chinese exchange rates. It is worth mentioning that the phone may very well be released globally. As the poco f3 gt, we get an owl shaped usb type c to type a cord. It is yellow, as well as a yellow, 67 watts power supply charging, brick, that is in the box. It’S a lot smaller than other 67 watt charging supplies. That being said, let’s go ahead and unwrap this guy Music. I have the silver wing color variant of the device. You can also pick it up in light shade, which is pretty much white or shadow black or bruce lee yellow. That is a limited edition only with the top end model. I really like the silver wing edition. It looks pretty much gray into silver into white it’s. It’S very sexy, if you ask me, we have that little lightning bolt at the back, which is actually the flash, and we have rgbs around the camera. That only seems to work for now when charging the device or initially opening up a game. We have gorilla glass, 5 in the front and back with an aluminum frame. Other k40 devices use a plastic frame and though it is a matte finish at the back, it looks like it’s, metal, it’s, actually gloss, fingerprint smudges are definitely apparent.
You can even see them through the case. It is a tad skinnier than the k40, but a little bit taller and we have a volume rocker, on the left hand side this time round with triple microphones on the left, the bottom and on the top no headphone jack this time around. But we do have an ir blaster and dual stereo jbl speakers with dolby atmos. We also have usb 2.0 type c ports at the bottom, which you can pop that l shaped type c cord into, and we have a dual sim tray, though unfortunately no expandable storage option. We have an arc fingerprint sensor on the side which doubles up as a power button, and we also have magnetic or mechanical shoulder triggers, which pop up much like we saw in the recent black shark 4 and black shock 4 pro. As you can see the black shark 4 pro over here, though, it does have a textured switch and a bit of an angled button. Under the hood, we have a much bigger 5065 milliamp hour battery, which can be charged up from zero to 100 in 42 minutes. Thanks to that 67 watt, flash wired charging, it is also ip 53 dust and splash protected. We have a mediatek dimension, 1200 chipset, which is run on a six nanometer process, node technology with a max clock, speed of 3.0 gigahertz lpddr4x ram and ufs 3.1 storage. When it comes to optics, we have a 64 megapixel imax 686 main sensor, 8 megapixel, ultrawide cam and 2 megapixel macro sensor.
I must say i do quite like the design elements of the k40 game enhanced edition. But what about when you turn the screen on? We are welcome to miui 12.5 for the first time just released today here a stable version in china, and that means no google services when you’re using the chinese version of miui 12.5, which is a huge bummer for most. I tried all my usual workarounds and they don’t seem to work. I will try to get this fixed if i do land up doing a full review up in the front. We do have a 20 by nine aspect: ratio. Six point: six seven inch led display. It is 1080p with one billion colors and a thousand three hundred minutes of brightness. Of course, 120 hertz, refresh rate and 480 hertz touch sampling rate, comparing it to the black shark 4 pro on the left, hand, side and k40 pro on the right hand, side. They have the same size display all three of them, although the chin at the bottom of the k40 gaming edition is a lot smaller than the other two devices here and very symmetrical when looking at the sides and the top, though the camera punch hole in the Center of the screen is slightly larger than the other two. We have 120 hertz display, as i said, but the black shark 4 pro is also a gaming phone and it has 144hz display with a regular k40 pro, has 120 hertz display to match that of the k40 game.
Enhanced edition and the game enhanced edition at 120 hertz is still nice silky and smooth 144hz, in my opinion, is a bit of an overkill but it’s always nice to see those numbers other than that we can turn the phone in landscape mode and just flick both Triggers up and we get welcome to game turbo, which we’ve seen in many xiaomi devices around. We have a bit of a game turbo overlay over here, though no fps counter. We have to dig into developer options for that, but at least there is an option for it and we do have those touch triggers all those pop up triggers. That is, they are indeed mechanical, so they can only be used for two things. One finger on the left and one on the right: no swipes, no dual functions that’s about it, but they work pretty well and we are getting a solid 120 frames per second when running a bullet force in max graphics. But what about the speakers? Music? Dead, trigger? 2 is another game that doesn’t have a frames per second cap and we’re, getting a pretty solid 120 fps. Most of the time, let’s give a listen again to those jbl stereo speakers. I really wanted to showcase gentian impact on the device, but i tried i actually spent about four hours it just didn’t land up working. We do have a cooling system made up of graphene graphite and a vapor chamber within the device, so it should keep things pretty cool and how does that combine with the dimension 126 nanometer process? No technology driven chipset running through antutu version, 9.
0.5 and i’ll once again, of course, compare it at the end to other devices around i’m, not going to do a heat test this time around i’ll keep that for the full review and when it comes to the results Of antutu version 9, the redmi k40 gaming edition placed last amongst these other devices here with a score of 684 326 points. The redmi k40 game. Enhanced edition is certainly an incredible budget friendly gaming device which could have some competitors worried. However, xiaomi already have a sub branded gaming company known as black shark and, in my honest opinion, make much better gaming devices at a similar price point, but it does beg the question of the black shark division coming to a close somewhere down the line. Do you think the future redmi k gaming series devices could potentially replace the black shark smartphones or is the k40 game enhanced edition a hit and miss? Let me know what you think in the comment section down below and also let me know if you would like a full detailed review of the device i’ll be making a poll regarding the full review within the community tab of my channel. So make sure you cast your vote after this, a sub to the channel would be fantastic.
