So this is the cheapest 5g phone from samsung, starting at only 20 000 rupees. If you apply the 2000 rupees gift card, otherwise the price is 22 000.. So in this video we will be talking about the pros and the cons of samsung m425g and we will be answering a very important question. Should you buy the samsung m42, or should we even consider the f62, which is currently being sold at a huge discount on flipkart? Well, this is munal you’re already watching techwiser let’s go Music. Okay, before we begin with our first impression. Let’S quickly see what you get inside the box, so you get the phone, you don’t get a cover or a scratch guard on this phone and you get a typical 15 watt charger and a usb a to usb c cable. Now, with that out of the way, let’s move on to the device itself – and the first thing that you notice about the phone is the build quality, i have to say it’s really good. This is different. Four tone finish that looks really good and, as some of you are pointing out on twitter, the m42 is a rebranded version of a42, but this shouldn’t be a problem since a42 was never released in india. Now, taking a look at the back, the frame is polycarbonate and it can easily collect fingerprints. You should obviously use a case now. Let’S take a quick look at the phone itself, so you get a usb 2.
0 type c port with a single speaker at the bottom. You also have a volume button and the power button on the right, and you get a hybrid sim card slot, so two sim card or one sim card or one micro sd card now. One thing that i really like about m42 is that it’s pretty lightweight, to give you perspective, it’s somewhere around 190 grams, whereas many phones that are released these days are 200, sometimes even 220 grams and it’s, something that you should really keep in mind before buying a Smartphone, since you feel the weight every second, you use a smartphone, and thankfully this m42 is one handed device and pretty lightweight now coming to the most talked about part of m42. Yes, the display so samsung has put 6.6 inch. Hd plus amoled display yes, it’s a 720p display. You also get an under display fingerprint scanner now talking about the display. Well, you can feel it that it’s an hd display whenever you see text on it, there’s no hdr support for netflix or youtube. However, you do get wide vine l1 support, so you can watch netflix at highest graphic and then there is a bottom firing speaker, which is loud enough, but average quality. So definitely if you are someone who is out there to buy a phone mostly for media consumption, then f62 is a better choice here. It has full hd super amoled with 90 hertz, refresh rate video on that is in the youtube cards, but you should look at m42 when it comes to performance and 5g.
Now talking about the performance, it comes with snapdragon 750g, which is a good mid range processor. Now the good thing about the base variant is: it comes with 6 gb, 128 and 8 gb 128 variant. So even in the m42 base variant you get 128 gb, which is a good amount of internal storage right out of the box. Now the ram is lpddr4x and the storage type is qfx 2.1, now luckily or unluckily, due to 720p display. The game runs smoothly on this samsung m42, since it doesn’t have to push too many pixels. So you can run cod at a very high graphic and very high frame rate and it runs smoothly. There are few frame props here and there, but it works. I played our favorite jensen impact and you can get away at low settings 60 fps quite easily. I tried rendering a 2gb video file with me, 10i, as well as m42 side by side and, as you can see, the m42 finish worst, maybe because the hd display makes it do little work now talking about the camera. Well, there is no fancy gimmicks here. Samsung has one of the best camera optimization in the industry, and it shows here as well, so there is 48 megapixel main camera 8 megapixel, wide angle, camera 5, megapixel macro and 5 megapixel depth camera on the front. You also get a 20 megapixel selfie camera. Now the main camera takes good photos. I found the colors to be little bit, desaturated, not poppy, which is unlike samsung, but the contrast makes them look good.
The wide angle is also pretty good it’s, a typical 8 megapixel wide angle sensor, which is decent enough. Now, talking about the 5 megapixel macro, camera it’s, really good it’s much better than the 2 megapixel macro camera that you usually get at this price range. I especially like how the skin tones comes out in the selfie mode. That photo was taken in a cloudy condition, which is one of the most difficult time to take good photos, but the skin tone turns out really good. That said, one weird thing that i notice is when you take selfies against the light like this one, it tries to brighten your face. Like you see this blooming hello effect. That said, we didn’t get video samples due to this whole lockdown scenario, and we need a little bit more time to test the camera. Another thing that i like about samsung m42 is the software experience. So these things comes with one ui 3.1 based off android 11 out of the box. So you get the same flagship, ui experience that you get with samsung, s21 or even note 20.. So you get the samsung pay, knock security secured folder. All of these are usually present in samsung, expensive phone. Now talking about the ui, there are bloatwares like mods candy, crush, etc, which you can easily uninstall, and you also have discover tab with recommendations which is expected since it’s an m series device. Now, in terms of battery, you get a huge 5000 mah battery and the cool thing is: if you have a type c2 type c cable, you can use m42 to charge other device.
Yes, you can use m42 as a power bank in case of emergencies, and when it comes to charger, you get a 15 watt charger, which is understandable, since you also get a 15 watt charger with 50 000 rupees phone, so it’s fine. That being said, the phone supports fast charge till 25 watt. Yes, i have used my macbook charger and it fast charge it now. Let’S talk about the most hyped part about the samsung: m42. Yes, 5g. So in terms of connectivity, it supports four 5g band and you also get 4g carrier aggregation. Now i didn’t have any problem with the voice call or wi fi. Calling another thing that i like about samsung m42 is that it comes with nfc chip, so yeah you can use google pay and samsung pay at any nfc enabled card machine. Okay. So to sum it up, the samsung m425g has a good processor for 5g band. A good battery life and a decent camera. Yes, the display is hd at 60 fps, but hear me out so if you’re in the market and if you want a 5g phone from samsung and you’re sure that you’re not gon na change. Your phone for at least three to four years, then the samsung m40 to 5g, makes sense here’s. Why so samsung ensures that you will get next three years of android updates, as well as four years of security updates, combine that with 5g, and you have no reason to change your phone for at least three to four years.
Also do keep in mind it’s the only mid range phone from samsung that supports 5g. However, if you don’t care about 5g and frankly, you shouldn’t, then you can also consider samsung f62 it’s on crazy discount on flipkart sold for somewhere, like 18 000 rupees, and it has 2020’s flagship, exynos chip, full hd display and a really huge 7000 mah of battery Life so yeah. That was my first impression of samsung galaxy m42. Do let me know what you guys think in the comment section below. As always, it’s been our signing off.
