So is it actually any good let’s find out ps for more nokia, related content. Don’T forget to subscribe, not all polycarbonate plastic is created equal and the x20 is a perfect example of this. This phone feels very sturdy in the hand and feels extremely well built, and while the design doesn’t exactly stand out, especially in pictures and renders in real life, i really appreciate the minimalism of it all. I also like the matte finish on the back, and especially in this nordic blue color. So if you’re a fan of something that feels substantial, you’ll appreciate what this thing offers. What isn’t, so great, though, is that the bezels on the front are quite large for this class of device, and that drops the overall look for me and notcher 2.. You might also care to know that this phone is made out of 91 recyclable materials according to nokia mobile, which is something that i really appreciate. The front has a 6.67 inch full hd ips lcd display, which houses a centered hole, punch camera. The display itself offers nice punchy, colors, good contrast, excellent viewing angles and quite dark black levels, but it’s definitely not class leading in any way. Sadly, the refresh rate is still limited to 60 hertz, so it’s not as smooth looking as some of its rivals and the black levels aren’t as good as an oled display. I would have personally really liked to see an oled display on the x20, even if that comes with its own drawbacks.
Sunlight readability is on the good side, though, and you shouldn’t have problems viewing this display outdoors. The display also has hdr10 support and works quite well for watching movies or checking out my face on youtube. For some reason, though, there is no pure display tech on this phone, but i don’t really miss it. To be honest, the phone tends to automatically push more punchy colors when you’re watching videos or checking out pictures. There is also one lonely bottom firing speaker on the x20, which happens to be quite loud and remain of good quality, even at higher volumes, but it can still easily be blocked depending on how you hold your phone, another nokia phone, another android, one device. This one comes with android 11 out of the box, which is a near stock, lightweight experience that completely relies on google for basic services such as the dialer, app messaging app and the photo gallery. So here are nokia mobile’s contributions to the software, a camera app. That comes with pro controls, as well as many other options: cinema mode for advanced video controls and a 21 9 aspect ratio, zeiss video, editing tools that enables you to add players to your videos. My phone app in case you need support, swipe down for a notification bar when you’re on the home screen display white balance, controls double tap to wake up the device always on display. That shows you the time and the date and the weather on your lock screen.
Pick up to view time and more gestures. Nokia is also promising three years of os updates, so in theory the x20 should go all the way up to android 14, alongside security patches that matches the same time frame so that’s definitely a bonus, but whether you’re a fan of android one or not, i’m gon Na leave that up to you, so how does this phone perform with the snapdragon 480, 5g processor and eight gigs of ram it actually breezes through day to day tasks without breaking a sweat? I now understand why it was code named quicksilver funny enough. What might have been perceived as its biggest weakness turned out to be one of its biggest strengths? In my opinion, it pretty much matches any device with the snapdragon 700 series processor, except for the 765. for a more in depth. Look at the performance of the x20. You can check out my dedicated performance review, oh and shout out to the haptic engine on this phone. It is excellent and works very well for typing, as well as throughout the whole interface Music. As for gaming, the adreno 619 is definitely no slouch. I tested call of duty pubg, forza street asphalt, 9 and dead sells, and they all ran pretty smoothly on high settings with no issues but best of all the phone managed to keep very acceptable temperatures even after 30 minutes straight of gaming. So that tells me that thermals on the x20 are definitely doing their job Music.
The phone comes with a quad camera setup on the back, but the party stopper is definitely the 64 megapixel main camera, which is a samsung iso cell sensor. The picture quality produced is very clean in daylight, and the dynamic range and the level of details is good, but the absolute best thing about this phone’s camera in daylight is how balanced the image processing is. The photos aren’t over sharpened, like a lot of other devices in its class and the hdr, has been tuned really well. I would completely avoid tapping on a subject to brighten it, though, because that tends to make the phone choose very high iso settings, which adds unnecessary grain to the image. Sadly, the ugly side is in how inconsistent the image processing in night mode is sometimes in night mode. The phone pushes the hdr levels way too high and that really doesn’t do it. For me, this inconsistency pushed me to use pro mode in low light situations, and the end result was me being a lot more satisfied with the image quality. So this tells me that the camera is really capable, but it needs a lot of fine tuning for the night mode to be perfect. I really hope this gets addressed in an update till that happens. You can always rely on gcam for more consistent, low light results. Anyways, if you’d like me to create a dedicated video talking about the camera, let me know in the comments below the 5 megapixel ultrawide.
Camera is, as expected, a letdown when it comes to the resolved details, but it works quite well as long as you have a lot of light around and you don’t plan on pixel peeping it alongside the fan. Favorite 2 megapixel macro camera continue to be just usable for social media where you don’t have to zoom in at the images at all. I think, for me, the lack of a higher quality ultrawide camera is possibly my biggest complaint with the overall cameras on this phone. As for the 2 megapixel depth sensor, it does its job really well with subject: separation in portrait images and i just found the pictures to be satisfactory. The 32 megapixel front facing camera also captures satisfactory images and has good subject: separation in portrait mode. Nothing more to add to it really. One of my biggest gripes with the x20 is that it doesn’t support 4k video recording, thankfully, the 1080p video that it does produce is actually quite good. Software stabilization is excellent, and the audio quality is great thanks to also audio just make sure you avoid touching the mics on the bottom and the top of the phone for the best, cleanest audio. The video from the front facing camera was also quite good and offers the same great audio quality. For those of you interested in more advanced controls, you can always jump over to cinema mode, which offers you all of these advanced controls for video, as well as the ability to capture h log format.
This allows you to capture greater dynamic range and give you more fine tuning when editing and it works really well. I just wish that we weren’t only limited to a 21×9 aspect ratio. Nokia, mobile also added the ability to switch off digital stabilization, so you don’t have to crop from the sensor. If you don’t want to nice touch as for call quality, i found it to be satisfactory. I tested it in a loud environment and the caller said that i sounded clear to them and they sounded clear to me. I just wish that you can increase the volume a tad bit more in a call. I also had no issues with signal reception, even in tricky areas. The phone also has 5g and the speeds that it can reach are quite crazy. We might not fully appreciate this at this moment, but it’s. Definitely a nice thing to have for future proofing. The device i’m happy to report that the battery life on the x20 has been excellent. The processor, as well as the decently sized 4470 milliamps battery capacity, means that you can get between seven and 8 hours of screen on time. So this should comfortably last you for one full day of usage and even pushes you up to 2 days, if you’re a light user, i tested it with some light 5g usage, as well as with the location and the bluetooth being turned on at 50 brightness. As for charging speed, this definitely isn’t one of the x20 strong suits it’s limited to 18 watts of charging, so it takes about 40 minutes for it to reach about 50 charge and just under two hours for it to fully charge okay.
So let me give you my final thoughts. In my opinion, the nokia x20 achieves the goals that it set out to achieve. It offers a durable smartphone that is built incredibly well, that you can probably keep for a long period of time, thanks to its performance, 5g and software support, it tries to win over your emotions with the way it feels in the hand how it looks its excellent Battery life, its good main shooter, as well as its excellent software, optimization it does that in a package, that’s environmental friendly. If you care about that, of course, the question is: is this what you are looking for? The competition is very fierce in this class and there’s, probably something for everybody. If you really want 4k video recording an oled screen and faster charging speeds, there are definitely other options out there i’m, just personally glad that the x20 offers a different approach for people who value quality and experience and aren’t too fast with the specs. If this sounds like you, then you’ll really appreciate the x20 and its minimalism. If it doesn’t then well, there are plenty of fish in the sea, Music, anyways that’s it. For me. I hope you guys found this review helpful.
