That is until moment just sent me their thin case. The moment thin case that is, magsafe compatible and so today that’s what we’re going to look at Music: hey guys, blake, calhoun and i’m, using an iphone 12 pro max, and so i just got this moment thin case and we’ll check it out. I’Ve always liked moment cases i’ve, especially liked the thin cases and so i’m glad to see that they made this thin case with magsafe i figured they would. I know they make the larger filmmaker cases or whatever they’re called now, but i’m glad that they’re doing the thin case and then, of course, you’ve got the lens mount here. So that way you can use the moment lenses with the case as well. Music, you may need to read the instructions: Music, okay after fumbling this, i ended up. Reading the instructions and it’s a new design, there’s a little marker right there and there’s a little marker right there on the actual insert. So you line those two up i’m on the inside of the case, and it should pop in Music okay, so i actually had to turn the camera off for a second to get this mount in and let me zoom in a little bit here. It comes with this already in it, and i didn’t realize that so i spent several minutes trying to attach this to this and, of course, that wouldn’t work, but i didn’t know it.
I didn’t realize that was actually on there and so learn from my mistake. Once you pop that out, it comes out pretty quickly, but this looked like just a piece of trim for the case, and so that goes back in like that and then once you get the other one out, it goes in pretty quickly so put this on the Iphone 12 pro max, and now i should have magsafe capability. I have decided after using magsafe that my preferred use case, for it is lock off kind of shots. Maybe in your studio, running and gunning with the setup is not advisable, at least in my opinion. So i do like the magsafe system, but for me not running and gunning, i would suggest a traditional tripod mount for that. So i, like this case, it’s a nice thin case here. It is side by side with the this is the polar pro, and this is the moment. Version slide that out of the way get that out of here, they’re very similar, and i would say they have a similar feel this one has a little bit more of a plush feel with this nice soft interior. The one thing, though, that i love about this polar pro case is the lens mount here is made out of metal, and so your lenses feel really snug and attached very securely. The moment ones haven’t felt that way to me in the past, especially the last couple versions of their cases.
They’Ve been a little bit flimsy. I like this new design, though, because it attaches underneath and it’s a little more flush mount here, but the main thing i like about this new case, of course, is that it’s magsafe compatible, and so now i can charge my phone with the case on and then Use their various mag safe attachments, so this is a moment, 58 millimeter, and that goes on really nice and smooth, and it feels very secure and remember. This is a 12 pro max, and so the inner lens is the actual wide lens and so that’s on the main lens right there. The telephoto is on the outer lens and yeah that’s great that’s, a very nice snug, fit on the outer lens as well. So this new case is much improved in my opinion and i’ve got the original here’s the original moment thin case for the 12 pro max. I got this early and it’s fine it’s a good everyday carry, but the lens mount always felt a little bit weak to me a little bit flimsy and so i’m glad to see that they improve this quite a bit and again has magsafe capability Music, and it Feels secure, and so here is a comparison between the original moment, thin the moment thin with magsafe and the polar pro magsafe, obviously they’re, all very similar because they fit the 12 pro max, but they’re different in the way they feel and the way they handle on The phone they each have positives and negatives if you don’t care about magsafe.
This is a good option if you want to keep with moment and have a little bit of a thinner case that you can easily put in your pocket. This is a great everyday, carry and then again the polar pro excellent case, a little bit bulkier, but great if you’re out shooting a lot of video. So i think the moment case is probably the better everyday carry case. This one is a little bit bulkier. I know it may not seem like it side by side but it’s just a little bit thicker, because it has way that you can mount a handle onto this case. But this one is a much better filmmaking kit. So you could use this as an everyday. Carry for sure the polar pro but, if you’re more of a casual shooter, but you still want to use moment lenses and use magsafe. I would go with the moment if you’re more of a video guy who’s out shooting a lot of video and you’re attaching lenses and magsafe, and you want to also attach their handle. Then the polar pro is a really good option. Both are excellent, though, and this case is quite a bit cheaper than this one, but this one comes with a handle and an nd filter. A variable nd filter all right. Well, that’s it. I just want to take a look at this new case and, of course, the magsafe system. If you haven’t seen my previous video definitely check that out, i go over in more detail.
Magsafe again, i do like magsafe. I think it has some really cool functionality. A lot of creative ways to use it, i personally wouldn’t use it as my full time shooting setup but around the studio or using it to hold a phone, as maybe an overhead cam, or maybe to use it to record audio a lot of really cool ways. To use it to where you’re not going to have to worry about it coming off, it is very secure but it’s, obviously not nearly as secure as a traditional tripod mount. The ease of use, though, is really cool and they’re a lot of fun to use Music thanks for watching guys.
