The second generation hasselblad camera, a design that rewrites the rules notice. How catchphrases like never settle and flagship killer are gone, and actually, i think the idea of holding on to that past is more our problem than that of oneplus for at least four generations. Theyve wanted this pro lineup to represent the best they can do and theyve even thrown a crazy amount of money at partnerships to prove it now. Whats interesting is that this is the first year where we have yet to see their non pro variant. That knight in shining armor that would continue to cater to their core at a time when even the flagship makers have their own flagship killers. Unless you go, nor 2022 sees the company lay all of its eggs in one basket and, dare i say, a very competitive one. So if this singular launch of the oneplus 10 pro is a statement to the death of the old, the only question now is: if this phone is bold enough to justify a means to an end im rivera with pocket. Now and after a very long wait. Its time for our full review Music im going to start by saying that i didnt walk into this review too optimistic. Last year, the 9 pro launched in the united states with a single variant that was priced like a pro max and didnt, even come close its as if the base oneplus 9 was just there to save, face and help us believe.

The company we knew was not entirely lost now, whether there were lessons learned or not, im really happy this oneplus 10. Pro is nothing like that. Instead, it borrows from some of the philosophy that came before that predecessor. The price is now in a far more logical territory, and even if we see some corners cut to achieve it, this again is part of the oneplus we knew before. So no, there is no gorilla glass, victus plus, but the front is victus and the gorilla glass 5 at the back remains well regarded against drops and scratches sure there is no ip rating unless you go t mobile, but its not like if these are technically different. In build for us to worry about enough splash resistance, again all things that are part of the oneplus philosophy we knew before and that never stood in the way of what made it popular. That said, this is a pretty good looking phone id say it even dethroned. The oneplus 6, as my all time, favorite, the matte back, is now complemented by a ceramic contour that holds a camera module thats, pretty unique, even if it draws some obvious inspirations that at this point, are kind of inevitable. With such a saturated market as expected, it is large but weight distribution was pretty well thought out and essentials like the three way mute slider remain as part of the aluminum border and listen. Yes, we dont need an extra reminder that some antenna cutouts made it prone to a shelf of shame, but since im not really in the habit of bending phones as a common practice, im not gon na subtract points.

For that. I also like that they didnt cheap out on this display. Surely im not a fan of curves at the front, but that becomes secondary when the panel is this good, so 6.7 inches quad, hd plus resolution at 10 bit meaning a billion colors 1300 nits of peak brightness, hdr, 10, plus certification and yes ltpo2, which means a Smooth 120 hertz variable refresh rate, all the bells and whistles of a flagship are here in a very well executed panel. That brings fantastic color and viewing angles. The optical fingerprint scanner was raised for better ergonomics and there is an always on mode for the basics. Also, yes, there are dual firing speakers, but like in the case of the pixel 6 pro the bottom module is far stronger than the earpiece reproduction and smooth 120 hertz variable refresh. Oddly, though, where things didnt go, the previous oneplus route is internally, but have you noticed that that has become a trend in 2022? I mean, if you want more ram on your s22. You have to go for the higher tier well same here: snapdragon 8, gen. 1. 8 128 gigs of ram and storage, which, at least in the us, is currently the only sku all flavors of 5g, though carrier support is kind of weird and the latest wi fi and bluetooth. But then, aside from a massive battery, this is the only phone in this price range that doesnt just bring a charger in the box, but the 65 watt super vook will get you topped up in around 40 minutes, with the optional 50 watt wireless charging being almost As fast now, one of the most controversial moves with this phone is oxygen, os, 12 and thats, mainly because many argue that it doesnt remain true to its legacy, which is sort of accurate.

Yes, even the unlock sound is color os, but honestly the rest is actually more pixel than ever and thats, both good and bad. Yes, its pretty smooth and, yes, you can swipe left for the google feed and dont worry. The app tray is still here. I even feel it improves over every other android oem and not allowing me to see notifications on the lock screen. Unless my face is detected. It then keeps sprinkling some oneplus mojo with a shelf of widgets. You can swipe down for from the top right, but which you can disable just as much as even the swipe down gesture in calling notifications or even google search see. This is what i like the most about: oneplus phones, having all the granularity of features that you can either enable or disable to your hearts content. If anything, what i dont like is the inflexibility. The launcher brought from google like widgets having unnecessary wasted space for no logical reason, which only reduces your ability to maximize a screen to all your needs so yeah when it comes to oxygen os. Some of it is the same, and some of it for better or for worse, is not, though, in its defense, i have to admit that it doesnt get in the way of a good user experience. This is a very snappy phone to use regardless, if you need it for basics or even gaming, now im glad. I took my time with this review because at the beginning i did struggle with connectivity, but as of a couple of software updates that pretty much got solved from remaining connected and phone calls to data, this phone is pretty consistent.

Now best of all, i am gon na call this the battery life king, its so good at sipping power that, even if you forget to charge it overnight, the battery is not going to budge at all, but fine lets talk, cameras, sadly, generation 2 of this whole Hasselblad partnership did not bring new hardware and in cases like the telephoto, i cant say that the spec sheet, really impresses me at all now whats interesting – is that i feel the whole collaboration for color tuning has gone from inconsistent to pretty good, because if there is One thing these photos have its character like leica as to huawei and panasonic. We finally see hasselblad bringing uniqueness to oneplus camera shots. Think of a cinetone for sony cameras where colors are warmer and toned down its like this permanent filter that manages to preserve the intensity of the reds and doesnt affect dynamic range in the process, zoom in and even notice how the lens switch handles the darkness of A loss of aperture really well and then theres the fact that, even if these arent massive sensors separation and depth of field is great, there is no need for even a focus mode. I can even say that i notice detail is well preserved, even with the loss of megapixels guys listen. I know it took eight years, but we finally get great shots from a oneplus phone even at night. The processing is quick and this phone holds its weight really.

Well, at all focal lengths making each shot pretty usable, the attituding makes you want to play around with street signs and get the kind of results. Youd need filters for on other phones. Now selfies are probably the most benefited from these colors skin tones. Look natural portraits, handle separation and light with added personality and thats, even if the sun is harsh on your face, maybe the only thing i dont like is the play of sharpness around the eyes, but then ive noticed that thats been getting better after the software updates. Sadly, my only problem is video. I mean the oneplus 10 pro brings extra layers of things that just dont make sense. I mean sure colors, detail and stabilization is pretty good and i love to see even 4k at 120 and 8k. Here, though, each with its own set of focal length and even time restrictions, but the feeling lasts so long as you keep the footage on the phone once you try to use it on social media applications or bring it to a computer. You realize that its filmed. I think in rec 2020 color space – listen! Yes, i read the pro on the name, but lets be real. Any real professional that understands how to color tune will not be using a phone seriously. I dont even see myself moving away from rec 709 anytime soon and thats, because no video, editor or even youtube handles that. Well, at this point, so imagine, blown up, colors and blown up highlights for no particular reason and then theres the problem that, while the primary cameras exaggerate the selfie camera underwhelms at 1080p seriously, there is no phone at this price range that goes this low and heck.

Even the first generation oneplus nord has 4k selfie video. So honestly, its really hard to understand the thinking here. To conclude, i think its interesting to see this as both an evolution and probably even a return to its roots for oneplus. I do feel its a good strategy to not cheap out in things that matter and to leave the secondary elements aside in order to help a product stand out with a price all while dramatically improving the execution. I personally like this oneplus 10 pro. I do believe that this is the best phone the company has ever made, and i do feel that for any oneplus fan looking for an upgrade. This is definitely the right time to do so and sure, even if video is still a mixed bag, its hard to deny that even the usual camera pain points finally got resolved now, where things get interesting is once you consider that this phone is not sold in A vacuum, and especially when its priced to go toe to toe with devices like say the pixel 6 pro thats, where i feel that oneplus has cornered itself to a wall by ignoring basics like selfie 4k video, which are enough of a reason to put this phone At an unfair disadvantage, if oneplus wants this to be considered the best flagship, it has to either nail all the bullet points or do what it did best before, which was to make its competitors look really bad in features for the price and listen dont.

Get me wrong: this is a great phone. I have no problem in recommending. I just feel that it falls short of certain essentials in this price bracket, but which should not hold you back from considering it if you dont care about them now.
