Now, the space between the two halves is slightly thinner overall and symmetric from one end to the other. This gives the impression that the hinge is no longer there at all, but it is. This reduction in size was made possible because Samsung improved the hinge technology, allowing the closed screen to have a smoother curve. In theory, this also means that the Fold 5’s screen is less susceptible to damage from extended use. However, without spending a considerable amount of time with the device, it is impossible to verify this claim.
I say this because, like all current foldable phones, including this one, the protective film cannot be removed from the screen. This leaves all the edges exposed, making it susceptible to the same issues encountered after a year of use with the Galaxy Z Flip 3. In my case, the film began to lift at the crease, allowing dirt and dust to enter and increasing the chances of future screen problems. Therefore, I still do not recommend foldable phones to those who do not frequently upgrade their devices.

The crease in the middle of the internal screen is still present, but it feels smoother to the touch and, for the most part, becomes virtually invisible when directly looking at the screen. The only time it becomes noticeable is under strong lights or when viewing from a slightly side angle. However, this should not significantly hinder the overall viewing experience. So, apart from the issue with the external screen’s format, we have five excellent displays for consuming content, gaming, or everyday use. Having a large screen with vibrant colors, brightness, contrast, deep blacks, and fluid motion that you can easily carry in your pocket is truly remarkable.
